I agree yeah, I’d say in a lot of ways that Edge is much better than Chrome, due to its performance and also very good security, plus some tracking protection (though not a lot) vs. Chrome’s none, etc. Between the 2, I’d probably always pick Edge.
But yeah just never use either tbh, Firefox ftw.
You don’t even need to do that, all you have to do is hold shift when you right click, and it circumvents any hijacking.
Depends, but yes in most cases. Also just adds attack surface and consumes extra resources, so its generally a good practice to keep extensions to a minimum and only use what you need.
I prefer Calyx on my phone, for the sake of the extra privacy of Micro-G vs sandboxed Google Play Services.
You should give DivestOS a try tbh if you prefer microG to Sandboxed Play Services, since Divest’s implementation of microG is sandboxed/unprivileged unlike Calyx’s, which is a massive privacy and security benefit. Divest in general is a lot more private and secure then stock or Calyx, since it includes a lot of hardening and patches from Graphene, so I’d recommend it as the second best option to Graphene in general, and definitely by far the best option for using microG. Divest also covers most of the same phones Calyx and Graphene do, unfortunately no Pixel Tablet support though.
(I’m not trying to shill Divest or anything btw lol, I just think its a great underrated project that deserves a lot more recognition and support than it has, and seems to fit your use case)
For microG (what I would recommend, since its much more private than regular GAPPS/full Play Services), you can just flash a LineageOS for microG build for your device instead of the official LineageOS. You can get them here. It covers the same devices that Lineage itself does. Same installation process, just using their files instead of Lineage’s.
DivestOS added optional support for unprivileged microG fairly recently, so its definitely usable.
They both should work, you won’t get notifications for Teams though unless you flash microG or GAPPS.
Yeah, its just stupid on all angles. Nearly all security benefits of using iMessage over something like SMS go out the window entirely when using middleware like this. The only thing you gain is the color of your bubble and maybe some extra features. Overall its useless. If someone seriously thinks lower of a person or their social status of whatever because of the COLOR OF THEIR MESSAGE… that person has issues and I could care less about what they think of me, some self reflection could be nice.

How does GrapheneOS “shamelessly promote” proprietary software? I don’t think I’ve ever seen them do this. Maybe you’re referring to Sandboxed Play Services? But that isn’t “shamelessly promoted” or recommended, it isn’t even included in the OS, its just an optional app that can be installed for those who need it.
They have build tools to try to make it safe to run non-free programs (proprietary software) but that entirely misses the point.
I assume you mean Sandboxed Play Services again? That’s far from the only feature or benefit that GrapheneOS gives. They do much more work than just Sandboxed Play Services or making it safe to run “non-free” programs. They make it safe to run ANY program, regardless of license.

Not all of it is carrier related. I had an S21 unlocked (from US) and it still included Facebook and their garbage services, Netflix, OneDrive, etc. Also all of Samsung’s first party bloatware and nonsense is prevalent regardless. Not to mention Samsung selling data and their tracking, crippling your phone if you root it or install a custom OS (and in the US outright preventing it entirely), etc. Can’t recommend them or their phones at all, but its unfortunate because they have great hardware, just terrible software.
My biggest issue with Jellyfin is the downloads. I hate not being able to downscale or compress files. Its really the main reason I still leave Plex up in conjunction to it. Though I hope to be able to get rid of Plex entirely in the future, Jellyfin just needs more time.

Mozilla definitely should improve in this aspect, my point was just that sometimes the issues are heavily exaggerated and people act like it makes Firefox some horribly insecure browser that should be avoided, which isn’t the case at all. But Mozilla should absolutely improve the sandbox, I don’t disagree there.
Yeah. While these issues exist and are valid, they’re not important at all for most users and threat models. Mozilla has made strides there and is continuing to improve.
Kiwi is Chromium based, doesn’t really have any privacy/security features or protections, disables content blockers like uBlock Origin from working on certain domains, appears to make a Facebook connection on every launch that I can’t seem to get rid of (Can be tested/verified yourself), etc. It really isn’t a good option and I don’t recommend it.
It isn’t. On Android, it uses Gecko, and on iOS, due to Apple’s restrictions, it uses WebKit.
Yeah, Shizuku opens up a massive attack surface through ADB. ADB can do a lot to your device without you even realizing it in a lot of cases, and you’re basically giving ADB access to Shizuku itself and any apps that use it (which could be exploited) at all times, so its very risky. Its pretty dangerous and definitely best to avoid an app like this.
Google is actually right here for once. Signal is not offered on F-Droid, and its package name is org.thoughtcrime.securesms, not org.thoughtcrimes.securesms.
Only official places to download Signal are through the Google Play Store or their website (which self-updates).
Brave is not spyware. That website you linked is horrible and full of misinformation. They also claim that Firefox, and even Tor Browser, are spyware. They act as if any and all connections a browser makes are automatically bad and used for spying/tracking.
I won’t disagree with the other criticisms of Brave that you made, but just wanted to point that out. That website is just highly unreliable and makes verifiably false claims about the browsers it reviews.
Not sure how it hasn’t been said yet, but I really like Helium314’s OpenBoard fork. Can’t recommend enough.
