The film stars Keanu Reeves as John Constantine, a cynical exorcist with the ability to perceive and communicate with half-angels and half-demons in their true forms and to travel between Earth and Hell. …
While it received mixed reviews from film critics, it has since garnered a cult following in the years following its release.[10] In 2022, a sequel was announced and is currently in development.
I know this isn’t the comic version the fans know and like… but I love this movie and everything about it, particularly the cinematography. This is to me a perfect movie.
A fun fact that I remember from the DVD bonus features is the idea for the legless flying demons came from a bar that the director visited where they served drinks in a wine glass with the stem broken off so you couldn’t set it down. The idea being that the demons were bound to an eternity of restless flight.

The film story was adapted from a comics arc by Garth Ennis, who is a damned good writer. The arc is Dangerous Habits – there’s a lot more to it than what’s in the film, interested people can find it in trade paperback.
But yeah, this version of the character isn’t British and doesn’t look like Sting. I didn’t mind though, I don’t know what Alan Moore thought of this movie, but it’s nothing to look down on. Tilda Swinton, Shia LaBeouf, Djimon Hounsou, Gavin Rossdale, Peter Stormare, they all do a great job. And Keanu is Keanu.
The version of hell is especially interesting, I hope they show more of it, if the sequel comes off.
I don’t know what Alan Moore thought of this movie
he hates all comic book films, so I’m sure he hated it.
I wasn’t going to reply to this, but then I saw mention of something called “Watchmen Chapter 2” and now I’m like: he’s probably right!
On a recommendation I read the novelization of the movie and it goes into a lot more detail on several elements and was a really great read.
a sequel is in the works, according to Keanu, partly thanks to Stephen Colbert
I think I only vaguely knew that a comic was the source. I’m honestly glad I didn’t know, because this is a damn fine movie, I’d have hated for it to be ruined because I loved the source - but I sympathize.
I had no idea a sequel was in the works.
