I don’t think I have more than 17,000 miles on these pads and it seems like I have plenty left. It’s like this all the way around. Am I wrong to think that I have some time before I need brake service?

Mechanic said I need brakes. 🤔
If all 4 pads on that axle look that way your fine.
Avoid the dealership! They are horrible places that only retain the mechanics that can’t cut it in a real shop.
I bought a brand new work van for my business. At 30k mi while in for warranty work Nissan wanted to do 4 brakes, 4 rotors, 4 tires, and a 4 wheel alignment on a NV3500 work van with a solid rear axle… Said there was severe wear blah blah blah. Ended up going to over 100k miles and through two sets of tires pulling trailers with that van before actually needing brakes…
This mechanic is after your money. Run, don’t walk away from them.
It’s not the dealership, it’s Aamco. Maybe that’s worse lol. I needed my transmission replaced, and they were the only local shop that would pick up the phone. I found my own remanufactured transmission online and saved a bunch of money compared to them sourcing it, but of course they found a some other problems that they say need to be addressed, like my brake pads.
Looks like the rotors could use some service or replacement but they should be fine until the pads require change.
