    That’s a big beefy Dorito-bot.

Bandai putting MG on the back burner, while pumping out massive UC kits in HG, and killing it with RG, has me rethinking committing to 1/100 moving forward. 1/144 has pretty much everything I want these days.

HG definitely has the widest selection of some of the coolest gundams. I still love MGs over HGs for the complexity and detail options, but I’ll never be above grabbing a sweet HG (especially from p-bandai!)

Agreed across the board. The newer HGs are so much better than the stuff I cut my teeth on 20 plus years ago, it’s hard to believe. It’s basically the only line that gets more than a couple of releases a year anymore. And what timeline are we in that Penelope, Xi, Messer, Nightingale, and Bound Doc are all released within a few years of one another, at regular retail? We’ve got Destroy coming, along with that big one from Build Metaverse. The latter reuses the new Psycho Gundam arms that initially came with one of the (so very many) PB Hazels… and I’m hard pressed to believe that there’s not a Psycho Mk II in the works to further use those arms. And not Gunpla, but there’s a Big Zam coming in the robot spirits line. It’s like Bandai is going all-in on the big boys in 1/144. I’m here for it, and would love a full size Wodom from this craziness!

The icing on the 1/144 cake, for me, is RG. I was out of the hobby for a bit and missed the first few years of the line. Tallgeese was my first RG, and I was blown away. And now that the pre-molded frames have taken a back seat, they’re basically mini-MGs with all of the detail (and lots of ridiculously tiny pieces lol). They give me my complexity fix.

I’m sorry for derailing your build thread _;;; Seeing your Penelope and Tallgeese side by side just kicked off another round of internal debate on how I should handle the hobby going forward (and gave me an excuse to geek out lol).

This is why I’m so glad I committed to the 1/144 scale models, mostly in interest of the smaller shelf footprint and they are generally cheaper. While the RG models are my favorite, a lot of these HG models are getting RG type features. I just finished putting on what I’m pretty sure was 100+ water slide decals on the HG FA-78-1 Full Armor. Not something I’d typically expect at the HG level.

It’s unbelievable, comparing these new HGs to even the ones that are only ~10yo or so. RG really blew me away on my first one. If I didn’t have doofus fingers I’d probably have a lot morenof them on my shelves lol even though I struggled some, I loved putting together my dueling RG RX-178s! They’re like beautiful lil MG Jrs.

No worries, derail away! I’m sure we all love nerding out on this stuff lol
