“Honestly, [it was] very disappointing because I think we’re all here, we respect each other a lot and of course, I’ve been in that meeting room many times in my life, in my career, with people that I’ve raced and I’ve never seen someone trying to screw someone over that hard. And that for me… I lost all respect.”

Speaking to Dutch TV station Viaplay, Verstappen added: "He always acts extremely polite in front of the cameras but if you sit together with him personally, he’s a completely different person.

“I truly can’t stand that. Then you might as well get lost. I don’t want anything to do with you.”

When F1 becomes the drivers stewarding from the cockpit, the real stewards are supposed to be the voice of reason.

This weekend and arguably this season they haven’t been and George is one of the best at spinning situations to make it sound like he was wronged to gain an advantage. You could probably even argue he learned how to do it so well from Max. It’s not a good look for the sport.

Yeah, this weekend was a bit off the rails from that perspective.

Max is one to talk, with the harping on Lando not lifting under SC, but I agree these stewards didn’t do a good job with George/him in quali either

Well Lando was only 1 second behind Max all of a sudden because he didn’t lift, during the race. Different from the George situation not on a fast lap during quali. Then again the 10 second stop and go for Lando was a bit too much imo. Inconsistency remains key with the stewards.

The FiA is in a bizarre “show of force” period with MBS throwing his weight around in the FiA and the race director/stewards suddenly ruling with an iron fist.

I hope they get this nonsense figured out before it does lasting damage to the sport.
