This is the first Israel-Palestine thread that hasn’t been locked on here within an hr in ages. That’s all I gotta say, Im surprised.

He would have gotten away with it in france had he said “Radical Judaism” instead of “Jewish people”.

That is how right wing parties there get away with racism against muslims. They never explicitly criticize muslims, but the “radical islam” or “political islam”.

Because an idea can be hated, but not people.

This Imam is obviously an amateur racist.

Maybe because nobody has a problem with a muslim just living there life bothering no one. It is when the radicals or criminals uses violence within society that people get upset.

Stop defending extremism maybe then it will be easier to distinguish extreme islam from normal islam.

Pure free speech is nice conceptually but it’s ultimately not conducive to an ideal society. Things like hate speech laws in the UK go against free speech but ultimately protect marginalised communities from persecution and allow everyone to feel safe.

Calling for the death of an entire religious group no longer classifies as free speech and goes over to hate speech.

Threatening an entire race by wishing them “a dark day” is a little different

Full freedom of speech is an awful idea. If I go into an airport and start threatening to bomb the plane I’m about to get on, I’m going to have consequences for what I said

The way the media is now running the narrative “Israel-Hamas” instead of Palestine, is just disgusting. They are trying to disregard the lives of Palestinians and the way some celebs have been silenced for calling for a ceasefire is beyond pathetic.

Its funny how those who say they are simply trying to defend Palestinian people always seem to revert to open antisemitism and Khaybar ya yahud chants.

It’s like having a part of your brain cut out. Like 1/3 of your brain wants to suck Netanyahu’s toes, the middle 3rd disagrees with the Israeli treatment of Gaza and doesn’t think they should be indiscriminately carpet bombing civilians but also understands how fucking difficult a Hamas government is making it to live free from apartheid, and the other 3rd is full on river to the sea bullshit

Good. Criticising the Israeli government is fine, but straight up calling for a “dark day for Jews” is, in fact, antisemitism.
