I’m really trying to not murder my monstera but as a beginner I honestly don’t know why this new leaf is turning black. Did I overwater the poor thing? She has been vibing for about 4 months without issues.

It could be the plant is just culling less useful leaves. As it grows, new leaves will block sun to older ones. These leaves then require more energy to maintain than they bring in and become a resource drain, so the plant kills them off.

No plant will keep every leaf forever, it’s perfectly normal.

I feel you. My monstera is working on coming back from the dead. I agree with the other comment that this leaf looks pretty useless. Unless you rapidly moved your plant between lighting regimes like I did, it’s probably a normal thing!
