Eventually it will probably be English Premier League vs. European Super League

As opposed to the Madrids taking all the best players from Spain back in the glory days? Nobody wins today except big money and they are just sore that their money isn’t big enough anymore.

Lie down with dogs- you get fleas.

This is incredibly short sighted and stupid. The fundamental problem is that the social, cultural and economic models we operate under produce monopolies naturally. It’s ultimately irrelevant where you arbitrarily insert break points in the data set in order to declare the problem solved. At best you get a temporary reprieve. All you have to do is just wait a little bit and eventually the same environment produces the same results and you will again have monopolistic outcomes where a small subset of participants dominate.

that only works when the super league plays without english clubs and without english clubs its not really a “super league”, is it?

so, nothing will change with or without that league, besides all the usual big clubs getting richer and the gap between them and 99% of the rest of europe’s football clubs is getting bigger.

well, 15 years ago it was the other way around

and I haven’t seen the premier league sign ballon d’or winners or other key players yet from Barca or Real, like they signed key players from the best teams in England

The PL being better is all down to PL teams willing to share more of the revenue with each other. The Spanish league allowed the top teams to take most of the leagues revenue and now instead of fixing that they want a Super League so those top teams can suck even more money out of the sport. The lack of awareness on why they’re not in as good of a position as the PL is astonishing to me. How do people this inept become presidents of anything.

The super league was always about taking away some of the cash away from the English league.

Was surprised the English clubs were so keen for it initially.
