It would be some comeback story for Van Dijk to have one of the best ever primes a centre back ever had from 2018-2020, pick up an ACL injury that’s put him out for a year, go back to having a brilliant 21/22 season, then having a very poor 22/23 season with people calling him finished and then going on to hit world class levels again

This has got to be Salah and VVD’s last hurrah. It’s a real shame they aren’t in the CL with them both performing at close to the peak of their powers for one last time

ToTS could end up being van dijk and saliba … just imagine those two together in peak form … most casually dominant cb pairing imaginable

It wasn’t due to Pickford. He had a great 21/22 season immediately after the injury and was vital at us being in the running for all four competitions until the final days of the season. Sometimes players just have poor seasons by their high standards (something we often erase from our minds years down the line when we evaluate them after their playing career is over). He had a midfield with no legs in front of him which definitely also played a big part.

He has been the best defender in the world again this season, great to have him back to his best with the euros coming up!

Liverpool concedes a lot of chances and their defense can still be a little shaky. However Ali and VVD are immense and bail the defense out time after time.

The numbers back it 14.5 xG conceded and they’ve only conceded 10 goals.
