“I could write a book on the amount of crazy, fun times I had all the way back to Nine Inch Nails.”

Richard Patrick’s obsession with Trent is mostly a punchline in his middling career. It was pretty funny how in fucking 2012, he would be spending half an interview pissing on a band he left in 1993. That being said, I was surprised how glad I was to read that they had finally patched things up, and that their kids were playing together and stuff. This show had to have been like supreme catharsis for Richard after decades of carrying that grudge around.

Well it must have been hard to not be at least a little jealous. He had no way of knowing that nin was going to be so popular and so important when he left. Most musicians would kill for filter’s success but for Richard he would always be aware that nin was significantly more successful.

Did he ever hear the songs he was playing? Everyone everywhere knew they were hearing something special the first time they heard NiN.

Sure but there are a lot of people who make innovative music and they don’t get popular. I’m a big fan of the legendary pink dots. I think they’re incredibly innovative but they’ve never been popular.
