Piped.video wants me to sign in to verify I’m not a bot, but there is no sign in button anywhere. Sad to see a good website fail so badly at the most basic thing.

I don’t think you understand what youtube has been doing…
I thought this was an error given by YouTube to the instances for rate-limiting or something? I usually just swap to another instance in settings and its fixed.

Piped should build out better error messages so that users know this is a problem with Piped getting the video from YouTube.
I have already contributed two smaller fixes to Piped, I might look into that as well.
As others have already said that, this is caused by Google/YouTube, not Piped. (They should make that more obvious.) Try another instance (Preferences -> Instance) until it works. The official kavin.rocks/kavin.rocks (libre) seem to be blocked by YouTube more often than other instances. The smaller the instance, the better (probably).
It’s not a piped account problem. It wants the instance to sign in with a Google account.
Invidious is facing the same problem, there’s issues on both Githubs since June.

Its not piped’s fault, it is an arms race between google and projects that block ads.
Yeah Smarttube has quit working several times lately and they have released updates. Google is messing with things.
