My reasoning: Lemmy is still barely just frustrating enough that the average user would give up, if you release sync for lemmy before many of the important upcoming fixes are released, you’ll end up with a large influx of users that join, get frustrated, then leave. If you wait, even just a month, it’ll be likely these issues will be resolved. Lemmy is just a very young platform experiencing a lot of growing pains.
I think people who wanted to leave Reddit already did so. Sync or no Sync. I’m currently using Voyager and I just day the progress it did size the beginning is unavailable. I’ll switch to Sync because it was The app for me for many years, but it won’t be as easy as it would be month ago. So bringing the app as early as possible is for sure beneficial for the developer.

The current wave of new users is over. Its just us here now.
There will not be another big jump in users until Reddit pisses people off again. That won’t be until the summer is over, at least. It will happen, just not right away.
Now is the time to let lemmy have its growing pains. Release anything and everything. We can handle it.

I think Reddit will just slowly bleed out from now on. Nothing big or not big movement will ever happen … the beast is hurt and it has festering wounds that won’t heal. It will just grow older weaker and less stronger from now on. In two, three, four years time they’ll be pushed aside by the next big thing … whatever it will be, threads, Twitter, Mastodon, Lemmy, Kbin, fediverse, or something completely new … and we also don’t know if it will be corporately controlled or openly shared.
All I know is that as humans … we tend to do things in the least best way to benefit our collective whole.
You really think that the people who are still on lemmy after lemmy.world got hacked and ddossed multiple times care about a few bugs or down time?
Also there is very little chance that lemmy makes massive improvements to their reliability in a single month. Lemmy is very much a long time away from meeting the service levels set by average users.
If anything now is the time to release it so we can use it and test it, so when the next influx of users come we can solidly recommend it.
Users man, there’s never a “right time” to release something. There’s always more that could be done. If Lemmy isn’t ready now then when will it be? What list of fixes do need to be done? After that will there be more? It’s such an open ended question

I think the sooner the better. Something I’ve been mulling over for awhile now is the differences between Mastodon and Lemmy. Mastodon has growth issues (or not, depending on how you want to frame it) due to the type of social media it is. A lot of people that use Twitter are looking to follow particular voices in the chatter, or simply be where friends are. That’s a much steeper barrier for Mastodon to overcome. Lemmy on the other hand is just a place where conversation happens in general. People will come here for the content and the discourse. I know we’re all impatient wanting it to get back to that Reddit level, but it will happen in time. The stronger the foundation we build, the more tempting it will be for others to join.

This really is the critical part. We’re starting to see some smaller niche communities get created, and the best thing any user can do is find one or two small niche communities they care about and start posting in them, no matter the quality, just to get the ball rolling. It’s too much to ask most people to create communities themselves, because that requires them to take on moderator duties, but populating them with content to make them more inviting is just as important at this stage, and much easier to do.

No, I just think a delay might be healthy to prevent a whiplash based in misunderstanding, lemmy is developing extremely quickly.
I envision a world where Sync releases and with updates the app itself will address your concerns with lemmy.
