For me, genshin and Warframe… I was extremely lost. I quit both, felt like I missed so much.

I got into Eve probably a decade ago and the biggest problem for me was the lack of current documentation. Almost all of the information available was outdated from past updates of the game.

Destiny 2 should be in that list. It’s all meta builds.

I’ll also mention the opposite. I got back into Rocket League. I originally had about 300hrs in it and stopped playing for a couple years. I have put maybe another 30hrs in since coming back and it’s exactly as I left it. Maybe a couple menus have changed but it was very simple to get back into.

God yes, I got the most recent Destiny update free from PS plus recently and thought what the hell I’ll give it a go. The onboarding process was atrocious, very little explanation for anything at all just assumes you know who all the people are and are keeping up with the lore. Virtually no tutorial. I turned it off again after 5 minutes.

Not sure what counts as “currently popular,” but World of Warcraft is a bit intimidating for new players, just in terms of the scope and changing seasons.

Path of Exile is a bit rough, too. One look at the skill tree is enough to turn some people away.

When I played DotA 2, a dude who was good also was trying to get me and everyone regular with us into POE.

I took one look at the average hours played on Steam reviews and noped out of there. Also quit DOTA like a week later.

And then you get to the Atlas passive tree and we’re straight into a Lord of the Rings second breakfast meme.

Yup, can confirm. I left wow near the end of Burning Crusade and came back to it in the middle of Shadowlands. I was so confused. Plus, nobody talks anymore. Chat used to be lively, but now players seem inconvenienced and annoyed by strangers trying to start up a conversation.

I don’t recognize the game anymore and have no interest in continuing. I tried WoW classic when it came out and had a blast. Got through Northrend leveling and then left again.

Any game with a season pass feels awful to join if you didn’t get in at the start. Only one I’ve seen that slightly mitigated this in the past was Destiny but it was highly destructive and not viable. Sky: Children of Light handles newcomers well by offering a “spirit” (shopkeep basically) return every 2 weeks to get what you missed. Its slow as fuck but everything is cosmetic anyway. Space Station 13 and 14 are also awful to get into if you dont like reading gobs of wikis.

      hey

didnt think i would encounter another moth in the wild.

How long have you been play?

      23 days for me

P.S: it is so god damm annyoying so but what makes it worse is you have to choice between cosmetics and making friends

      I will also add Yu-gi o

i played for 2 days then quite. You could only take so much beating as beginner before you give up. its feels like the game punishs you for playing PVP before spending 30,000 in solo.

The best example of this, is a player with all of his monsters at 0 Attack/0 Defense but any attack i do is redirected at me and i cant choice to not to attack due to card effects. Any spells/traps i use are negated by his cards. So i was just stuck there

even the ranked matchs arent any better, the whole game feels unbalanced

I haven’t played yugioh, but I’ve been playing Sky for 2 years. As long as you dont get FOMO’d by every cosmetic its usually chill and I like having something to go after. But its supposed to be chill

    Siege.

You have to hit a certain level to even do ranked matches, and the regular lobbies are full of players who either don’t play the game or are just smurfing so it’s very hard to actually learn the meta and even get to a “serious” game.

And, just from knowing how extraction shooters work I imagine the ones that have been around for a long time are hard to get into now with all the dudes who have good shit running around.

Siege is ridiculous, they need to set a limit on how many classes they can add. There’s something like 100 different dudes with different gimmick items, weapons, tools… it takes like 100 hours to get familiar with who they all are, let alone unlocking them. I don’t know how they can act like an Esport when getting access to all of the characters takes hundreds of hours of grinding or micropurchases. And don’t get me started on the sniping through dime sized holes in drywall as the main gameplay

DOTA splits the difference but it’ll take you 3000-5000 hours to be truly competitive. And everyone wants to be competitive.

GTA: Online. I had a lot of fun on it around 2014-2016 but grew out of it. Every now and then I think of getting back online but then I remember all the shit I’ve seen in videos online that they’ve added (I remember when the Adder was the end-all car). Hoping they do a reset for GTA 6

AoE2. This game is really old, and has lots of people who are good at it. I was playing it since the Age of Kings times and it took some time for me to adjust to these players; I think it must be really hard for new players to try multiplayer against veterans.

Diablo 4. The mechanics are fine, the game play is fine, the skills are fine, the activities are fine but I just fucking hate the character optimization.

There is so much bullshit to fiddle with and it takes so much effort to figure out if something is an upgrade or not. Usually it’s an upgrade only if I change my build slightly and replace three other pieces of gear. It’s fucking exhausting.

Not only that, but there are so many variations and ways to modify your equipment that it takes a while to really figure out. Every time I go back out of curiosity it ends up being the same colors and numbers game, so I get frustrated and quit.
