If you use “they” to describe a nameless group of people and you mean anyone other than The Man (That’s how they get you.), you’re probably the one who’s wrong.

They say you shouldn’t generalize about people.
Any time you would use “They say,” like “You know what they say,” is referring to the general populous
For the likes of Farrage and Musk it means themselves but they don’t want to be the bad guy
I have a nice group of friends who will remain nameless. They are pretty good people.
