Orks are definitely the only species this would ever work for.

Although I’m surprised they don’t just make a gun that fires smaller guns that also fire bullets which themselves fire bullets… that explode.

Its easy for us rougelike enjoyer’s to forget but the average person isn’t looking for entertainment where they die over and over slowly learning enemy patterns and unlocking new stuff. It takes a special kind of masochistic challenge chasing nerd to get something out of these kinds of games.

Every 40k author is tearing up their manuscript right now and starting afresh,

…the screaming chainsaw missile tore through the mid-morning air, the astartes all laughed as it sliced though half a squad of guardsmen as they ate breakfast…

You would need an equal and opposite angular momentum at the back of the chainsaw otherwise it will just rotate upwards and loop around in circles.

The real one deploys blades that cause the missile to spin at very high speeds before it slices through its targets like butter without an explosion

just enough rotational velocity to counter gravity trying to pull the nose of the missile down though. and also the centripetal momentum of the chain would act like a gyro stabilizer insuring that it remains nominally upright.
