Was about to say this myself before I saw your comment. I’m 6ft 1 in (185 cm) and I stand up as soon as we land because after 2 hours of having my knees jammed up against the seat in front, I want relief.
I can only imagine how much worse it is for taller people. For shorter people who do this I will also give the benefit of the doubt because most seats on planes are not the most comfortable.
I’m 6’3 and plane seats have gotten so small that I look like a joke person on a kiddie plane most of the time. If there’s enough headroom, I stand up asap too.
If I get stuck in a window seat, I just have to hope the other people get up so I can angle my legs over into their spot before I die from deep vein thrombosis from having my legs cramped into one position for so long.
If it helps, I bought a pair of compression leggings for long flights and holy SHIT are they like magic. My legs used to get sore and my feet would swell and hurt. None of that happens now. Getting them on is a pain in the ass though.
Also, to help you also feel more pissed at airlines: do you know why seat rows don’t line up with windows anymore? It’s because they’ve smashed more seat rows into each plane. The next time you’re feeling claustrophobic, look at the four or five rows jammed between three windows and imagine how that used to be three rows.

I am 5’4, every plane seat is extra legroom for me.

Capitalist innovation at its finest.
I can’t wait that long and usually half squat just to feel a moment of blood flow in my legs
