Summary

FBI Director Christopher Wray will resign on January 20, 2025, but experts say Trump’s nominee, Kash Patel, cannot immediately assume leadership under the Federal Vacancies Reform Act (FVRA).

The FVRA mandates that the acting FBI director must come from current agency leadership or Senate-confirmed officials, disqualifying Patel.

Deputy Director Paul Abbate is expected to serve as acting director for up to 210 days until a permanent director is Senate-approved.

While Trump could exploit FVRA loopholes, experts consider such scenarios unlikely. Calls to reform the FVRA to prevent executive overreach are growing.

I deeply respect those that dedicate part or all of their lives to public service.

This dude deserves nothing but contempt.

Totally agree, trump could fuck with his retirement otherwise. He probably has a family to look out for, he has paid his dues.
