Alles hangt af van de VVD. Welke coalitie denken jullie dat het gaat worden?

    1. SGP is a very strict religious party. They’ve existed since 1918 and are mostly irrelevant now. CDA used to be quite a big party but has shrunk dramatically since “functie elders”.
    2. The second coalition is actually the most realistic combo. The VVD already announced they will refuse to cooperate with the PVV. However, they were a bit vague about the exclusion so it could still happen.
    3. Yes, wikipedia does.

… My daughter lives in the Netherlands, and I think it’s time to start to understand a bit of your politics in case she gets your citizenship one day.

The fact that NSC is almost guaranteed to be in the coalition could have consequences for her. They are planning to reduce the amount of foreign students and get rid of the tax breaks for expats.

      Thanks again!

So basically the last coalition has been burned to the ground at the polling stations, but the politicians try to form something similar with the people who probably moved from CDA and CU to the new NSC, right?

That this NSC does not like foreign students is bad, though. On the other hand, the PVV probably does not like them (maybe hate them even more), either, so we should be thankful that they at least think of building an alternative.

Many thanks for the wikipedia link, it provides the info I was searching for, and links to all the parties, so I can get even more details. I’m amazed that a non-Dutch version of that page exists - which is the main reason I did not look it up on my own in the first place.

        Yes, basically.

The anti foreign student stance seems to have been introduced quite recently by the NSC. I haven’t heard it before from the PVV. However, there’s a good chance the PVV will pick that up because it’s getting quite popular. The consequences of these plans probably depend on whether you’re from the EEA or not due to EU laws.

Hello, Neighbor! Yes, definitly from the EU. I don’t think they can actually forbid her to study, but they can make it painful. One key issue is the language. I’ve heard of ideas to offer university courses only in Dutch in the future to reduce the number of foreign students. She is learning Dutch, but she is not yet fluent enough to take a language exam. I hope she will do this sometimes next year.

I hope for the best for your country. That whatever comes out of this election will be good for you. You are good people, you don’t deserve the PVV.
