I think this one was on its way out because it was pretty dark in color, fairly buggy and not very firm. Had lots of little wrinkles and folds, so had to be very thoroughly cleaned to get dirt and critters out.
Had a texture of an egg noodle, so I tried it two ways:

Boiled it in some miso soup, unseasoned by itself. It was a little too slippery and weird for my liking, but was edible.

Fried it up in some butter and garlic. It tasted like butter and garlic and was great, like any other mushroom lol.
I guess this one comes back annually, but I’ve yet to see it again. Weird looking thing and very fun to handle overall!
