Either way, I got some time to fart around with some random games and it’s *really *fun. I love the Game and Watch physical type feel and the “anybody can make a thing” attitude and I’ve been mesmerized by some of these games longer than I thought I would have. Not every game is fascinating, but every one was made by an amateur on a constrained platform and the whole platform feels like a long form Wario Ware game where every game varies from 30 seconds to several minutes. It’s genuinely sweet, I love discovering new games on this thing.

I love the idea of people developing games for a very limited, black and white console and this thing doesn’t cost $200 like the Playdate. That’s almost an entirely different one of these, but they’re in the same realm and you shouldn’t discount it.

It obviously won’t emulate your Game Boy games, but it comes stock with a bunch of little 2 minute games that a passionate and loving community that loves retro games and maybe hates Christmas made.

To be fair she didn’t lose her job as a comedian, she just wasn’t hired by small businesses to write copy for them anymore. Which is understandable and why people and businesses diversify and pivot and expand into other things.

She admits to catering only to small businesses and admits that they’re the first ones to cut costs and take on new tech that will save them money. Like, lady, how long did you think you would have a 1960s Mad Men type job in 2020s?

This one’s kind of on her and this was entirely predictable and she’s sort of blaming AI instead of herself for not providing enough value to her clients and figuring out another way to do so. That’s Dallas. That’s capitalism.

Understandable. You can only see so many old men dipping their unwashed piss covered hands into the bulk nut mix or watch an old woman dip her own spoon she brought from home into the soup at the hot bar before it starts taking a toll on your soul.

Yeah I don’t think anybody knows, but I think it’s only a matter of time and you can only rely on brand recognition and momentum for only so long before people realize that there are better services for them that don’t actively strip away the shows and films you love while treating you like an asshole. There’s just too much competition and it’s not stopping any time soon and a ton of people are actually paying a closer attention to their monthly fees and tightening the purse strings.

They probably won’t go out of business tomorrow or a year from now, but maybe 5 years and likely in the next 10. They just don’t have the same cultural cache as it did even a couple years ago. What did they even release that everybody knows about past The Tiger King and Squid Game which was years ago at this point other than like Wednesday. Better Call Saul ended last year. What do they have? Korean soaps, The Witcher without Henry Cavill and a creepy French movie about little girls twerking?
