The funniest thing is that you can’t have an automatic or machine gun in the US, but you can in the UK if you have a good reason for that. You can even have a bloody tank and park it in the middle of London.
Speaking from experience in Ireland, they are still armed with batons, pepper spray and other non lethal measures, along with generally being able to talk people down, who are armed with knives. In the admittedly rare cases of gun violence, we have Armed Response Units who do carry weapons.
How do they apprehend people without arms?

I’m a bit confused by the map because in the UK our officers usually carry a baton, spray or in some cases a tazer. They’re absolutely not unarmed.

Northern Irish police all carry handguns. The UK wide approach doesn’t exist.

Most NZ police have firearms locked in their vehicles, but not on their person.
