The answer is always the same: Double the price of gasoline for non public transport and half the ticket cost for public transport.
Make public transport free. Imagine if we had to pay a fare to use an elevator.
If most highways can be free (as in tax funded) then transit should certainly be free.
Free, shitty public transport is still shitty.
You should also improve it.
Can’t wait to see how Eric Adams kills it.
There’s already “congestion pricing”, its paid for in time.
All this does is allow the weathy easier access… More cycle ways that take away car parking and better, very cheap PT are actual solutions.
Driving in the city has an impact on city residents, and wasting people’s time doesn’t compensate those residents for that impact. The charge will help to fund the other measures that you mention.

The fact that it’s become so normalised for drivers to impose themselves on city dwellers for free is what’s crazy.
Motorists greedily demanding free and unlimited access is the real problem.
I’m happy about this because I can still afford to drive there, and this means there will be fewer cars so driving will be nicer and parking will be more available.
or alternately, relieving congestion, as well as forcing the electorate in nyc and state, to make more, better, reliable public transportation the commuters first choice, is a good thing. there is only so much space in nyc, congestion is a problem, charging people more to continue to be part of the problem is the only answer here.

Congestion pricing has worked elsewhere, what’s different about New York?
