This is the first painting competition on the board, but we hope to have more.
To keep the competition accessible, there is only one category: Single model. The theme for the competition is frontline leaders, which pretty much means the model should be some sort of leader. That’s anything from a squad leader, to an officer, to a synapse creature. Anything that could be reasonably defined as in a leadership role.
Everybody reading is free to enter, the photo submissions will be September 8th through the 15th, so there is plenty of time. Entries will be posted as top level comments here in the stickied thread.
After the entry period, this post will be edited with a poll and there will be a period for community voting. Invited mods (myself and Tobin confirmed, and we are asking other hobby community mods to participate) will hold a mod panel vote separately. Winners of the community vote, and of the mod panel vote will be announced. This competition is mainly for fun, but we are planning some small prizes.
Here are the entry rules:
-
There are a minimum of two pictures in the entry comments: one work in progress with handwritten user name in frame as basic validation of the entry, and one complete photo. Maximum of two other completed photos for various angles to judge.
-
The model has to normally be on a 25-40mm base, and has to be on that base for the entry (ie- no dioramas). You can’t stick a modern Ghaz on a 25mm base and enter him.
-
The model has to fit the theme as some kind of leader.
-
The model’s wargear has to be legal in at least some edition of 40k. If you pull out some super obscure old loadout, just be ready to show that it’s real.
-
Third party models/3D prints/conversions are allowed, as long as they clearly represent the unit they are entered as. This definition is going to ride on judgement calls, but if I can tell what the miniature is supposed to be and what it’s wargear is without being told that’s the current bar to pass.
Thread is open for questions.
Thanks, I have finished sculpting the extra bits and given him a coat of primer. The only problem I have is that I can’t decide what colour to paint his armour.
