Basically, title
I’m one of the few people who thought his Joker was fine. Most versions are heavy on the “clown” and light on the “prince of crime” part. I like seeing him depicted as a gangster rather than just an anarchist, and the modern version of that in Suicide Squad worked for me. The brief scene we get of him in the club has a lot of subtext. You could get an actual sense of how he fit in among and also disrupted the traditional mobs in Gotham by running his own enterprise that threatened them by creating chaos that the other gangs couldn’t adapt to. The only thing I’d get rid of is that “damaged” tattoo on his forehead.
Most of that is independent of Leto’s performance, though, which is… fine.
The only other thing I saw him in was Blade Runner and he was also… fine. More over the top than anything else in the movie so he didn’t really fit in, and he felt tacked on to what would have been a mostly complete movie without him.
I guess that’s it. His performances are fine. Not great, but get a lot more hate because he’s generally known to be an insufferable, arrogant douche in real life.
The director wanted Bowie originally for BR. I would’ve loved to have seen him instead.
That would have been way better.
Good actors don’t harass their coworkers and send weird things to their coworker’s house to do their job.
Or have private, sex cult islands.
👀
I… What? What happened here
While Jared Leto is best known for his acting career and for being the lead vocalist of the rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars, several controversies have followed him over the years. These include allegations of predatory behavior toward underage girls and using “method acting” as an excuse to pull bizarre stunts on Hollywood sets. However, while allegations of misconduct against Leto have been swirling for nearly two decades, nothing much has come of them. The accusations tend to resurface every few years, but Leto continues to wield a large fanbase nonetheless; he allegedly started a cult comprised of his devoted followers.
…
While the allegations against Leto haven’t been proven, some in Hollywood have implied that there may be some substance to them, and have even publicly called out the actor for his creepy behavior toward young women. Here’s what you need to know about Leto’s biggest controversies.
Thanks. I also thought maybe op had something to add. But euh, maybe wise to not do so haha
To be fair Margot Robbie is probably still traumatised by Leto’s on-set antics and doesn’t want to unearth any more painful memories.
Are any publically known about margot? This is a first time i hear of this! Sucks fucking arse though!
Margot Robbie replied to you above.
He’s a very solid actor.
Personaly, he seems a bit of a nut job.Whenever I post in the Tron community, there are people already writing off the upcoming film just because he’s in it.
I definitely tempered my expectations when I heard about that, at least until we know more about what role he’s playing. If he’s the main character, I don’t think he could carry the film and it could definitely suffer as a result. But as a weird, quirky antagonist like in Blade Runner, even if he’s not very good in it the film as a whole could still succeed. Give him a role like Michael Sheen’s in Tron Legacy and he could do alright.
I understand people have opinions, but I like to watch the finished film before making them. :-)
There’s a Tron community? Back in a mo.
Yeah, it’s mainly me posting at !tron@lemmy.world about Tron:Ares news. 😁
That’s good enough for me.
He’s only suitable for a very select type of role that he can fit into. So generally I don’t think he’s much range or much talent. But for those select roles he’s a great fit for he’s decent.
Best movies are Requiem and Dallas Buyers Club. He is 6/10 serviceable in anything else.
I completely forgot he was in Requiem for a Dream. That redeems a lot of other bad roles.
I think his acting is just fine. It’s the roles he has had that suck. Like, he didn’t act poorly as Joker; just that his Joker was a shit version of the character to begin with. Nobody would have made that a good character.
Yeah but how much of that version of Joker came from him in the first place the question. Actors can very much shape their role just as much as, if not more than, directors and writers do. I can’t say I see that and think it would have been the same from a different actor.
I don’t have one. I only saw him in Suicide Squad and I think it is best not to judge anyones acting on that film.
I’m always very conscious that I am watching a Jared Leto performance which can be a bit jarring. Given his on-set antics, I am unsure the result is worth the price.
He will always be Jordan Catalano to me. I’m not sure I can be objective here.
Trash.
