We just held our 2023 sprint and worked hard on improving KDE’s video editor Kdenlive for three days straight.
We tackled bugs affecting grouped clips, the #effects workflow, the organization of menu items, and much more.

I’m not a programmer, so maybe I totally mis understand this, but in most contexts “sprint” would mean I worked extra hours without pay so my employer could make even more money ???
A sprint in agile software development is simply a relatively short time period (a few days to a month) in which a set amount of work is supposed to be finished.
You’re probably referring to a ‘crunch’, although the overtime is (supposed to be) paid.
“Sprint” is a project management term that describes a focused effort on specific goals, not extra work. It could have been extra work for them, but it would be unrelated to the fact that it was a Sprint.

To add to this: Kdenlive team members are volunteers and KDE is not a company. They do it because they want to do it.
