I assume the “kill it” comment was a little tongue-in-cheek. On small SBCs, like a Pi, or old hardware, it could be a problem. I’ve seen people with flatpaks taking up 30GB of space, which is significant. I’m not sure how much RAM it wastes. I assume running 6 different applications that have loaded 6 different versions of Qt libraries would also use significantly more RAM than just loading the system’s shared Qt libraries once.
Wastes RAM and disk space (compared to package-manager installed applications) by storing more libraries on disk and loading them into RAM rather than just using the libraries already installed on the distro. It’s probably better than Snap and Appimage though.
I think some apps allow it, not sure though. You can also move to an instance defederated from .ml if that instance is more aligned with what you’d like to see. You can also just subscribe to communities and not browse “All.”
In the past, they used their relatively low prices to gain customers and are now exploiting people who just go there out of habit or don’t pay much attention to prices. A lot of the large chains are now more expensive and have worse quality than smaller stores and chains now.
Well, yeah, the spectrum certainly exists, but almost all of us fall hard to one side or the other.
I’ve heard it described as a bimodal distribution. Bisexuality seems pretty common though. Statistics say it’s more common for women to identify as bisexual than lesbian. The majority of women I’ve dated have been bisexual, but with a preference for men. Most non-straight men I’ve known have been fully homosexual. Personally, I’m straight. I’ve always had a hard time trying to figure out what a conventionally attractive man was (mostly to make myself more attractive), and still sometimes get surprised when someone describes a particular man as attractive. I find most women physically attractive, at least in certain ways (though I have certain preferences, of course). Personality seems to be what makes or breaks the attraction for me.
Yeah… the fed-posting isn’t good. However, the current system of policing, and the entire rotten criminal justice system, is a system of oppression, is responsible immense amounts of pain and suffering, and can’t be saved by just hiring better people. Cruelty (and upholding hierarchy) is the point.
Governments (state and federal) can force people to fight though.
Could be the blue states refusing to comply with some crazy federal demand under a Trump administration. Trump has said he’d use the military to attack the “enemy within,” after all.
GPL’d clients. Everything is encrypted/decrypted on the client before sending/receiving to/from the server. I may later switch to a self-hosted solution, but don’t want to set one up right now (was using BitWarden’s cloud before).
I just exported my data from BitWarden and imported into ProtonPass. Was pretty easy. Hate the color palette of the app and browser extension though, lol.
This works well too, and with many different models: https://github.com/guardrails-ai/guardrails
I have. My bank did a chargeback like they would if it was a credit card. I was told it would’ve been a lot harder to get my money back if my PIN was used. But, I’ve only seen that option available for in-person purchaees.
Thought this was a Republican ad for a second. Similar language and appeal to fear and ignorance.
I’ve used this before: https://github.com/wilicc/gpu-burn?tab=readme-ov-file
Yeah, it may be a driver issue, Nvidia/pytorch handles OOM gracefully on my system.
That seems strange. Perhaps you should stress-test your GPU/system to see if it’s a hardware problem.
SD works fine for me with: Driver Version: 525.147.05 CUDA Version: 12.0
I use this docker container: https://github.com/AbdBarho/stable-diffusion-webui-docker
You will also need to install the nvidia container toolkit if you use docker containers: https://docs.nvidia.com/datacenter/cloud-native/container-toolkit/latest/install-guide.html
Laissez-faire economics is a foundational component of liberalism (well, classical liberalism anyway, which I assume is what he means when using that word).
Yeah, torrents usually run 100-300KiB/s. I guess not too bad for smaller files. About an hour or three per GB.
Yeah, I agree. I do use Flatpaks, Snaps, and Appimages sometimes if I can’t find a suitable deb repo/package. Flatpak is the best out of the three because they do try to avoid too much duplication through runtimes. I also use Docker quite a bit, which has similar issues (and benefits).
