“It is simply impossible to solve the issue of inflation in conditions … when the military-industrial complex receives unlimited funding, when everything they ask for is given to them, when the share of this military-industrial complex in the economy grows at a very rapid pace,”
Fuck Putin and his stupid war. It’s always the masses that suffer.

Honestly, if I didn’t need chat apps like Slack for my job I’d be pretty content with one of these. They’d still be good as secondary phones, but unless they can support chat apps (without other online apps like FB, IG, and even browsers - so good luck with that) they can’t be my only/main device.
So we printed the entire Linux kernel source code including my driver in 5-pt font
Please tell me you used comic sans.
Oh this is cool. Let me try.

It’s not similar between apps, either, even with the same account. If you’re on Android, you can use Voyager and Connect and it’ll show you different numbers. Another thing is that it fluctuates. I see my “karma” on Voyager is around 14 points now, whereas I made a post comment quite recently where I also checked and I had around 40.
So as a karma system, it’s unreliable enough imho that it’s not gonna (or shouldn’t) affect users as much as reddit’s karma system. It’s also another reason why I decided not to switch to kbin.
Finally someone who gets it. Imo, the comments asking those people to hand over bank details and similar stuff can harm the argument. I mean, if someone told me that, I’d just say I do that every time I go to the bank. Or my bank has those details and they’re made up of people like me. It won’t really convince me that privacy is important since most of them probably have never experienced getting their accounts hacked.
Dang. I forgot about the stutters. It felt… Bloated somehow? Idk how to describe it. Joey, on the other hand, felt pretty “light” to me. Easier to navigate and you can personlize it, too.
With a 4.7 rating? Really, you guys? What’s going on there?
I really like it. The community is also really cool. More like a small town feel than a huge city like reddit. I hope I don’t have to move anytime soon.
Threads is app-only
I had no idea. What happens when you try to access it on desktop? That’s crazy.
I honestly don’t think it’d be as successful. It could even fail. A lot (dare I say the majority?) of redditors loathe Meta. Even the ones who are staying at reddit. I don’t think they’d take too kindly to Meta taking up their space.
For those users already on the Meta web, I’m not sure a reddit-like site will appeal much to them.
I personally don’t want lemmy to end up as a reddit replacement. I’m scared the discussions will get worse like it did in reddit. Nowadays, people in lemmy actually discuss with you and not downvote-bomb or make a snarky comment for karma. I do hope we grow, though.
I’m in Asia. I can’t speak for everyone but the people I know distrust the CCP much more than the US government. Sure, the US is far from blameless, but at least over here the CCP has a much worse reputation. I guess that’s one factor.
Another is more than a few people seem to think Meta is strictly a private company while tiktok is somehow being used/controlled by the Chinese government.
