I’m certain I won’t get it, as it’s not on my wishlist nor have I ever mentioned it to anyone, but my number one desired object right now is a life-sized, anatomically correct model of a specific non-human animal body part.
Independent thinker valuing discussions grounded in reason, not emotions.
I say unpopular things but never something I know to be untrue. Always open to hear good-faith counter arguments. My goal is to engage in dialogue that seeks truth rather than scoring points.

That is simply not going to happen and every even moderately informed person on the matter knows it. You’re effectively advocating for the war to continue indefinitely.
My aunt talked her mom out of kitchen remodel because it’s going to cost so much (that she’ll get smaller ineritance then) while my grandmom, who already spends most of her time alone at home then can’t even spend her savings to make her surroundings a bit nicer.
I tend to be painfully aware of my underlaying motives when ever I’m about to post something and it’s almost always some form of bragging so I refrain from posting it. If it’s not something I’d like to see on my own feed I don’t post it for others either.
I don’t see that. To me it reads as guilt tripping the parents for wanting to spend the money they themselves earned.
My criticism isn’t aimed at parents who want to leave an inheritance to their kids. It’s directed at those kids who expect it from their parents, as if they’re somehow entitled to it.
Inheritance from who? Your poor parents?
What on earth are you talking about? Generational wealth is not a binary thing. There are people rich enough to pass their fortune to their kids and then there are ones who can’t. That’s how it has always been and that’s how it’s always going to be.
What’s infuriating about this? Why the heck should I inherit something I haven’t worked for? I’ve always told my parents and grandparents that dying with an empty bank balance is the ideal way to go. Hell, preferably be in debt.
There’s not much left to browse if one blocks all communities on lemmy that people post politics to. You can’t even discuss electric cars or space travel anymore without people coming to tell you their opinions about Elon Musk.
It’s not even memes. People are literally posting here screenshots of political opinions that are not even intented to be entertaining. I’m pretty sure there’s a dedicated community for political memes but nah, everything needs to be injected with politics nowdays.
The fault in our stars was so sad I wish I hadn’t ever watched it. I hate that movie.
Not a meme.
That’s what you call it when people don’t agree with your narrative? “Derailing the conversation?”
I did Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for a while untill after the 3rd injury I realised this isn’t going to be good on the long run and I stopped doing it. However, it was long enough to see what a magical power that is so I’d say that being able to posses the skills of a black belt without going thru the training would be quite nice.
People don’t realise how helpless you’ll feel trying to wrestle with someone who knows what they’re doing. Being bigger and stronger will not save you unless you get really lucky.
Similar argument can be used to justify the murder of many other people we would otherwise deem good. This is not the way. There’s a reason we no longer act like we did during the middle ages. It’s not for individual rogue actors to choose who gets to live and who doesn’t. That’s not a world anyone wants to live in.
I’m not saying it’s inconceivable that the murder of such a person could lead to positive change, but the murderer themselves should not be celebrated - they should be treated for what they are: a murderer. Encouraging vigilante justice will not create the kind of world people naively imagine. Not everyone agrees on who the “bad people” are.
This kind of violence will eventually be directed at our heroes too, and anyone celebrating people like Luigi will then have no moral ground to stand on from where to condemn that violence. It’s exactly what they asked for.
Maybe if we just go around shooting everyone whose better off that ourselves then one day we’ll all be equally poor and miserable.
Is it okay for hospital to murder one random healthy person if you can then take their organs and save 5 people?
I started my own bussiness early this year. Though I’m not in the clear yet, I must say that commiting to actually doing it was the most anxiety inducing experience of my entire life. I was feeling physically ill for months due to the extreme levels of fear and worrying wether I’m about to make a huge mistake.
