Nope, nothing. But he sure does like to talk about what he’s going to do but never about how he’s going to do it, or why he didn’t do it last time.

I got accused of this the other day. Some random on Steam added me because he liked my profile pic. I was bored and decided to humor him. Two sentences in and he’s like “What’s with the ChatGPT sounding responses?”.
I honestly didn’t know how to react to that.
I liked the quote from Dr. Hibbert on the Simpsons:
“You know what they say, whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!”
“Oh ho ho ho, no… It’s made you weak as a kitten!”
Holy shit, I’m putting this one on my Steam LinkedIn showcase!
“Strategy without tactics is fake news. Tactics without strategy is the deep state cabal.”
Time to sue for Libel. DJT could only dream of having lawyers as good as Taylor Swift has. I sense another multi-million dollar money judgement coming.
When your local chain restaurant/fast food joint starts going off-menu to entice people to come in, you know a business is struggling. Seeing Churros on the menu in a Mexican establishment is perfectly normal. Seeing Churros on the Subway menu is a bit alarming.
I think it’s pretty clear the Subway execs (or the executives of their parent/holding company) foresee a recession and are doing as much profit-taking as possible while there’s still time before the big crash hits and everybody tightens up their budgets.
That’s the actual original definition, which lasted all but five minutes in the left wing social zeitgeist before being co-opted by right wing lunatics to essentially be a catch-all phrase for “anything I don’t like”. It’s a convenient substitute for their old greatest hits album - “Socialism/Communism”, which was starting to get a little tired now that the cold war has been over for over two decades.
When I first signed up for reddit, the upvotes and downvotes were not only separately tallied, but also showed the usernames of the most recent people who did them if you hovered over the button. Then very shortly after that they changed it so that it made votes private by default, and you could override it in the settings, but almost nobody went to check that box back on. Eventually, they completely removed that feature around the time upvotes and downvotes were combined into one. which along with vote fuzzing was one of the worst changes to reddit comments, imo.
Lemmy feels like old reddit right now, which is a great spot to be in. I don’t think you necessarily need public vote info, but maybe it could be enabled on a per-community basis? I can see some communities like politics not wanting to add additional drama to the equation while other more content driven communities might enjoy knowing who was giving the feedback.
A Toyota Hilux is more suited for combat than that piece of shit.
Arresting and silencing people who did not vote for him under the guise of combating domestic terrorism would be so easy. For as much as the right wing bad actors like to claim false flag every time something bad happens that they are to blame for, if Trump were to successfully orchestrate a false flag attack as president, he could have carte blanche to do whatever he pleased to his political enemies so long as the Supreme Court abdicated their responsibility to check his authority.
It really will be a terrifying time to live in America. The absolute best we could hope for with a second Trump presidency is him hunkering down for four years and do nothing after he gets what he really wants - all his criminal cases dismissed. That’s the best case scenario. I shudder to think of the worst case scenario, which would be all-out civil war.
I actually just like the smell of it brewing. Heavenly.
Tastes like shit, though.
Sadly, there was also a box of Cheerios on the table, just not in this particular screenshot.
I’m still a little surprised that after Trump tried to subvert the election results in GA in 2020 that anybody would be willing to still vote for him in that state. I can’t imagine many Biden voters having forgotten that particular incident. My hope is that they’ve held onto that anger silently and plan to turn out in November.
Another commenter made a very good point - Trump signs in MAGA country are safe. Biden or Harris signs in MAGA country are like asking for trouble. The conservative crowd is far more likely to commit acts of political violence, and virtually all of the south is a safe haven for Trumpism and conservative extremism. I can’t blame anybody for not wanting to do yard signs. Especially since a lot of people find yard signs to be obnoxious no matter who you support.
Off the top of my head - male, female and nonbinary meet the criteria of “at least three” and are probably the most well known. But I imagine a straightforward answer like that would not have satisfied some right wing mouthpiece and they would then intentionally try to conflate sex with gender to make Biden look bad when they take it out of context on the evening news (not that proper context would have mattered to the people watching it anyway).
If something is locked behind plexiglass at a store, I simply won’t buy it. The few times I have because I was desperate for it and didn’t want/couldn’t wait for the online shipping, I always had to stand there in the aisle awkwardly waiting for an overworked employee who probably wasn’t getting paid enough to come unlock it for me. Feels bad and just makes me want to buy online every time rather than waste a trip to CVS or Home Depot or wherever they’re locking shit up now.
Oh yeah, I hated the answer he gave too, but it was pretty clear he wasn’t expecting the question either. It was a bad answer and a mistake, but definitely one of the less egregious mistakes his campaign had been making in the weeks leading up to his departure from the campaign trail. At it’s core, being satisfied with doing your best is a sentiment most people can agree with, but one that falls short of what we actually needed. It did not resonate with the people who were upset with him at the time. We needed Biden to be ruthless after his debate disaster, but he was still playing softball at the major leagues.
I give him a pass for that statement. Biden was running on the platform of election trust and legitimacy. How else does he answer the question? “No, and I’ll fight tooth and nail to dispute the results if Trump wins?”. Maybe the democratic base would have loved to hear that, but it’s mixed messaging that would have been used as ammunition against him. He’s the President of the United States. He has to project confidence in the system, which means trying hard to win, but stopping right on the dot at “doing your best” and accepting the will of the people, even if it’s a distasteful outcome for everyone involved.
A girl in college once told me I have “beautiful, horse-like legs”. I did martial arts at the time and my calves and thighs were very well toned, but I was actually a little self-conscious about them, and I had never considered horses to be particularly beautiful so I kind of took it as an insult after walking away from the conversation. It wasn’t until I relayed the story to a colleague a few months later that they told me it was probably a genuine compliment.
Generative AI is really causing a negative association with AI in general to the point where a proper rebranding is probably in order.
