I think it probably would have been the biggest success of the 3 games. But you’re also probably right that it likely would have been the end of the series. Bethesda making them into 1st person open world games was probably the best thing that ever happened to the series. At least in terms of achieveing widespread success.

I really wish we had gotten a full release of Dinosaur Planet. Starfox Adventures is still pretty good, but it definitely lost a lot of unique ideas with the change. Not to mention, it probably affected Nintendo’s perception of Starfox as a whole. Mucked up a cool game and damaged a franchise with that one. And I say this as a fan of Adventures.
Star Wars 1313 is a big one for me. Same with Battlefront 3, both would have been amazing. RIP og Lucasarts, you were a real one.
Also, Retro Studios has had a few concepts that sounded awesome. They were planning a few Zelda spinoffs I would have really liked to see. Heroes of Hyrule and the Sheik project looked cool as hell.

I thought I’d never end up getting them in my collection because they were just too expensive to justify.
Guitar@lemmy.worldto RetroGaming@lemmy.world•GameCube Coming To Nintendo Switch Online With 3 Games At LaunchEnglish2·17 days agoWell that’s pretty much how NSO started. It sucked at first with a tiny lineup of NES titles. Now there are tons of games and they’re still adding. I think it makes sense that they would hype up people with additional games added over time. I’m fine with that if I’m still paying $20/ year for NSO. I get enough value out of that as is, and more games at the same price is added value. But I absolutely agree that they should have started with more than 3 games.
Admittedly though, when I first commented on this, I hadn’t seen the new prices on Switch 2 yet. Now, I’m just as pissed as anyone else. I won’t be buying the system at all unless they drop their prices. And if they don’t, then I guess I will just stick to playing elsewhere.

It’s about damn time they added offical Gamecube support to their systems. 3 games at launch is a little weak, but if they support it like the rest of NSO, the library will probably be great within a year or so.

Guitar@lemmy.worldto The Legend of Zelda@lemmy.world•What was everyone's go to echo in EoW?English2·3 months agoI don’t think it chains. But in the water, it will stun and damage in a large radius around it. It’s still pretty effective for multiple enemies in general. You can focus on one while others are stunned.
Guitar@lemmy.worldto The Legend of Zelda@lemmy.world•What was everyone's go to echo in EoW?English1·3 months agoThat’s fair, but you’ll get more resources to spend the more you play. I recommend using it the way you would swing the sword as Link. It’s not as good as a long-term summon, but really good as an instant single use attack. On most enemies, one hit will stun them and you can just follow up by spamming the Buzz Blob on top of it. They will drown instantly in the water, but it will also increase the damage radius by a lot. Just remember to keep spamming him over and over.
Guitar@lemmy.worldto The Legend of Zelda@lemmy.world•What was everyone's go to echo in EoW?English2·3 months agoEasily my most used echo was the Buzz Blob. It’s an incredibly potent weapon for the majority of enemies. And it only gets better when there’s water around. Those things were deadly in the previous games. It was a pleasant surprise to feel the power of that little bastard on your side for once
Guitar@lemmy.worldto guitars@lemmy.world•Why do active pickups require 9v batteries instead of some other kind of battery like AA?English5·3 months agoOnly for a guitar that uses active pickups instead of passive ones. Look up the specs on your guitar and it should tell you which ones it came with. If you can’t tell from the spec page alone, then look up the specific pickups once you know what they’re called. Most electrics have passive pickups, so it’s fairly uncommon that you’d have active ones without knowing.
Guitar@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Any advice for people who have recently started playing the acoustic guitar?5·4 months agoI think early on, it’s really important to focus on getting comfortable with the instrument itself. When you start learning to play, it’s common to have a lot of stiffness in your wrist and fingers. It’s kinda foreign for your wrist and hands to move like that at first. Practicing frequently and developing your muscle memory will help get your hands to flow on the instrument.
It’s less important when you start, to focus on getting the notes and patterns right. When most people start learning, they sound like shit. It can feel discouraging when you do all this practice and you still don’t sound like your favorite band. I think that’s where a lot of people end up quitting. And it’s why that guy at every party knows how to play Wonderwall and nothing else.
Practice getting a good feel for the instrument. It’s a good indication you’ve become fairly comfortable when you realize you’re not looking at your strumming hand anymore as you play. The more comfortable you get, the easier things like the strumming patterns will get too.
Don’t be afraid to play something a little differently if it’s easier for you to learn. You can use it as a stepping stone to learning the original. Or you can just play your own version.
As far as resources go, I mostly have used YouTube and Ultimate Guitar. I think you’ll find that a lot of guitarists don’t use sheet music much. The most common form of written music for guitar is written in Tab, so familiarize yourself with that if you aren’t already. I have always learned by looking up tabs on a song I wanted to play. You can always look for something else if you are more comfortable with that. But I think it’s always easiest to get started on a song with some community-made tabs.
Keep practicing, don’t give up. You will get better.
Oh damn, I forgot about that. I think you’re right. Wasn’t it supposed to be a more mature take on Star Wars?
