  • I knew we were in trouble when that damn… that egg commercial. That guy. I knew that was… the government’s take on drugs, you know, were fucked. Believe me. “Here’s your brain.”

I’ve seen a lot of weird shit on drugs. I’ve never ever ever EVER EVER looked at an egg and thought it was a fuckin’ brain. Not once. Alright? I have seen UFOs split the sky like a sheet, but I have never, ever, ever looked at an egg and thought it was a fuckin’ brain… NOT ONCE. I have had seven balls of light come off of a UFO, lead me onto their ship, explain to me -telepathically - that we are all one and there is no such thing as death, but I have never ever ever ever looked at an egg… and thought it was a fuckin’ brain.

    Now… Maybe I wasn’t getting good shit.

“Covenant” and “Prometheus” would’ve been killer movies to kick off a new IP.

I might be the old man shouting at clouds, but I’ve been turned off to all franchise “reboots”. Just sick of rehashes and revisits and the cute little “winks” these movies do to the previous installments. Have an original thought, damn.

  • Notes while I’m watching:

    1. The “vibe” is different - in my head I translated this to “he likes the GUI more”
    2. Minetest has zero “story” / progression (so no Ender Dragon to gear up for & fight) - it’s purely a sandbox experience.
    3. better performance, apparently runs on potato laptops pretty well
    4. Mods are built-in, and don’t require tools like Forge or whatever to tweak a jar file ⬅️ THIS is cool!
    5. Customization via the Settings menu

The “built-in support for mods” caught my eye. That’s pretty slick, and a headache with MC.

tl;dr - it runs on just about everything, and focuses on giving the player an easy-to-mod “sandbox” to play in.

  • Seems like they’re focusing on the body horror more than the previous installments with the close-up shots of facehuggers and that long-ass chest buster scene. Something tells me we won’t get much in terms of story or character development, but I guess we’ll see.

I think it’ll be a fun watch, but also looks to be just rehashing everything we’ve seen out of the franchise already.
