It should be liberalism and fascism. There is no such thing as a capitalism when it comes to ideology. If you are for capitalism you are a liberal, not a “capitalist”. Also fascism isn’t a different mode of production distinct from capitalism, it’s just liberalism going mask off in a crisis. So it doesn’t make sense even in that way. I know Americans will disagree and hate me for this but that’s just how it is.

It comes out drip, drip, drip. It’s ridiculous.”

If you support Israel after knowing that they purposefully shell hospitals and children, then you will most likely keep supporting Israel no matter what. Same goes for those who oppose Israel and it’s genocide.

Korkki@lemmy.mlto World News@lemmy.ml•Putin does not 'want to take all of Europe,' Witkoff says265·1 month agoOf course they don’t want to take over Europe. They want their regions in Ukraine and renegotiations on security on whole of their western border and now just not promises of security based on goodwill, because all goodwill between parties have been destroyed because of this war. If they wanted European resources, goods and tech they would just much rather trade for them. It’s much simpler than taking the burden of occupying and administering a fucking unruly European subcontinent! That would btw also get destroyed in the process if they ever tried to take it. Jesus, they don’t even want to take over all of Ukraine for pretty much the same reasons.
Korkki@lemmy.mlto World News@lemmy.ml•France and Italy Stall EU Push to Commit Ammunition for Ukraine01·1 month agoThere is no significant ammo production. There are no significant national stockpiles anymore. They all were fed to Ukraine before and during the 2023 ‘counter-offensive’ that flopped horribly and those stockpiles never recovered because all the new production was almost exclusively sent to keep Ukraine afloat after that. Should Europe just disarm itself completely just so that Ukraine won’t even win, but just that it won’t collapse totally this year?
Marx and Engels where both reviled by the mainstream liberals during their own time. Only in the late 20th century was Marx made like this kind demsoc grandpa that only stood for co-ops and liberal values who would have hated Lenin and Stalin “who obviously misunderstood him and Engels”. It’s also partly because of things like the new left and frankfurt school, Marx has his name slapped into everything from animal rights to art critique and other things that have nothing to do with class struggle and that has taken the edge off in the eyes of the liberals.
It’s however absolutely right that all the bad communists, the vile dictators and authoritarians are those who stood up to the west and capitalism, fought the porkies, won, didn’t get couped afterward and actually built something resembling real socialism. People like Lenin and Stalin are hated precisely because they succeeded and didn’t get crushed by the forces of reaction. There is also the radlib phenomena where they are allergic to any contradiction in real living world. The further a revolution goes the more contradictions and problems there are to work through. So you can really be pure and represent “real socialism” if you never really tried or got a chance to put anything into practice or died a martyr at the early stages with untested ideas. If you succeed and have to test and develop stuff, fight and compromise you become a dirty creature of “not real socialism”.
Eu doesn’t have the weapons to replace the US, much less do anything more. All action by EU and European Nato is at best a political stunt to make US and Trump to change their minds.

Like basic thermodynamics can tell you that carbon capture sucks efficiency wise. It’s more work to pour water on the floor and then mopping it up and putting a back into the bottle, than just not not spilling the water in the first place.

yes the ARM architecture is it’s own thing, licensed by ARM.

Korkki@lemmy.mlto World News@lemmy.ml•Brazil nixes BRICS currency, eyes less reliance on 'mighty' dollar7·3 months agoI mean US sanctions will force companies to use it, if it ever becomes real. Think like Huawei wanting to sell stuff to Russia, but US threatens to kick any bank out of swift that trades with Russia. So then they would have this Brics-$ to circumvent that. That’s the whole point. US is sanctioning so many countries that there is a need for alternative, not that USD/swift is bad system for those using it. USD needs replacing because it has become a Washington’s geopolitical sledgehammer and a chokepoint to free flowing world trade. Even Putin said that only reason they have been reduing dollar usage, because they have been barred from using it, not because they are particularly eager to do it by itself.
Companies would want it because it would a one way to secure their profits and nation’s would want it because it frees them from the unilateral sanction sledgehammer.
Korkki@lemmy.mlto World News@lemmy.ml•Brazil nixes BRICS currency, eyes less reliance on 'mighty' dollar4·3 months ago“Brics currency” would go around the problems of gold, becausse they have been planning for it to be tied to a “basket of goods” like oil, wheat, gold, etc. It has always been about solving the balance of payments issue among the member states, without using the dollar or gold. You are right that an Euro-like currency would be bad for Brics countries economies because of their development levels’ but so is Euro stifling for most the EU countries, but I digress.
