  • What no theory does to a mf.

But seriously, you got it wrong. We would all prefer if things go nonviolent, but that is not possible.

Not only that but the post is just a joke, adventurism is not something that’s incentivized in leftist groups/movements afaik.

And your rethoric about “anyone that have more than I do” is completely wrong. The problem is not someone earning more than other people, but the bourgeoisie, the ultra rich, the ones that lobby for their interests, that buy and sponsor politicians. Anyone else is much closer to the poor than they are to the rich.

Also this has nothing to do with jealously. You should read some Marx to at least understand what you’re trying to criticize and oppose. Or at least watch some Marxist creators like Second Thought, Yugopnik and Hakim.

People will always suffer. There’s a multitude of variables as to why people around the world suffer.

Let’s take a step back. Why does the majority of people suffer under capitalism? Because they have to live in a world where they don’t get good, free healthcare, don’t have a right to a house, don’t earn nearly enough to live comfortably, don’t have enough vacation, can’t afford to take a trip, don’t have time to enjoy their lives, are alienated from their work, have shitty jobs, work too much, etc, etc, etc.

That creates a necessity for charities for all the basic stuff everyone should have, but doesn’t currently have. If we give free good healthcare for everyone, the need for charities to threat people disappears. If we give everyone a home, the need for charities for homeless people, disappear.

Okay, so how about they don’t donate to charities… no more technical advancement in medicine, so people can be poor and die from disease.

What??? You do know that most breakthrough advancements doesn’t come from the private initiative right? It comes mainly from public, government expending, into research. This idea that private entities advance society is just a liberal propaganda lie that is peddled to us all the time since birth.

Charities isn’t something you enforce or eliminate. It is a free choice to give. Mandate it and you’re just legalizing theft by the authority.

I’m not talking about making charities illegal, I, like every other communist in the world, am talking about solving the issue at it’s roots, eliminating capitalism, and that requires eliminating exploitation through labor and eliminating the rich and insanely wealthy as a class.

  • They donate not because of the goodness in their heart, but because they get tax cuts from it.

Furthermore, what does donation really accomplish when:

    1. People are still suffering, regardless of how many charities there are and how much money they get;

    2. Those wealthy donors are the reason people continue poor since they are only wealthy by exploiting other people’s work.

Charities shouldn’t need to exist in the first place.

  • The Binding of Isaac with all the DLCs. I really mean it. It’s the most replayable game I ever played, not only that, but there’s tons of mods on the Steam Workshop too.

I don’t think any other roguelike comes close in just the sheer amount of things to do and see in this game. I’ve been playing on and off for years, have more than 500 hours and I still have challenges to complete, characters and items to unlock and item synergies to see.

I gotta get back into Ultrakill, I really wanted to start P-Ranking to get to the big boss fights.

  • The developers of the game have a clear vision of how they want their game to be difficulty-wise and I don’t think sticking to that is a problem, it’s their intended way of experiencing the game and making sure everyone, regardless of anything, are in the same playing field, difficulty options are not necessarily about accessibility, it depends entirely on the intention of the developers.

There’s a lot of other options you can have on your game for people with all sorts of needs and necessities, just look at recent Sony games for example, and From Software sucks on that front, they desperately need to put more accessibility options for those that need it.

Judging from even the g*mer places A LOT of people who would like to play have problem with the difficulty level.

If you’re talking about Elden Ring/Souls games specifically, I’m gonna be honest, this whole reputation of them being this “difficult, brutal, unrelenting, unforgiving” games is mostly wrong. It’s mostly just a different type of gameplay loop than other type of games. And yeah, it can be difficult depending on a lot of factors like the level of familiarity someone has with playing games, more specifically 3D games, or someone’s tolerances, preferences and mood. There are things in these games that are made to be difficult, like a specific area or boss, but it’s not nearly as close to what people make it seem to be, it’s just different from other types of games.

  • I think Shinji being kinda pathetic compared to other child soldiers in shonen anime is something that people have a hard time wrapping their head around.

I heard something similar before, but I think it’s less him being “pathetic” and more the fact that Shinji is a vulnerable male protagonist, and that clearly upsets the cis hetero dudes that comprise such a big part of the anime watchers worldwide. Shinji breaks quite a few expectations of male protags and so he becomes an easy target.

Like I find it odd that a common theme in the most popular animes is that an early-teenager saving the world through some enormous power bestowed upon them. Not only this but many many adults enjoy this theme without a hint of criticism. I relate to Shinji a lot more than the protagonists from something like Naruto or Hero Academia (most cringe anime of all time).

I 100% agree that it is odd, but it makes sense, it’s just pure ideology. Coming of age stories about these powerful hero individuals that through their own hard work and merit are able to achieve anything they want and save the world are perfect for maintaining the grip of liberal ideology in the imaginary of the young people that are gonna watch these shows.

That’s why I think shows like Dungeon Meshi are important and so refreshing. It shows a group of people that all matters and have to work together to achieve their objective. It’s a story where it’s clear from the get go that everyone in the group is unique, important and have their own role to fill. It’s truly amazing. I could say the same of Gurren Lagann to, to some extent, tho that does have a more clear cut protagonist.

  • You’re not weak for finding out what your limitations are, comrade. Everyone is different and have their own tolerances and limitations. Being vulnerable to yourself and acknowledging that is not weakness. And while yes, the Palestinians have it way rougher right now, having to do anything they can to survive an ongoing genocide, that does not mean your own difficulties and limitations are not important too, you probably live worlds apart from them and your life is also going on.

I think the best course of action would be to try to hold on a little longer there and at the same time try to contact a mental health professional. That way you could still try to be in your current job a little longer to see how things go while also seeking the help you need right now.

And like another comrade already told you, if the place is so toxic and you’re the only counter to that, your presence there matters a lot. You don’t need to be confrontational of them, as that can create animosity between you and the other workers, but being able to listen, assert your position and stand your ground when needed, could be the change they need to be able to pierce the veil of ideology they are clearly immersed in.

  • It’s been a while since I watched it, so my memory of it is a bit hazy, but I 120% empatize with Shinji, while I only saw others hating on him. He’s the only character I unironically say it’s literally me.

I tend think that Eva’s message is much more personal than trying to comprehend it’s plot. That is, I think that different people can extract different meaning from it.

To me Evangelion is about comprehending you own fears, desires and limitations in a world that not only suppresses and neglects your emotions and needs, but that also expects and demands you to act and participate in ways that you may not be fit to do. Shinji is the perfect encapsulation of that, he’s has so many fears and issues that he barely functions most of the time, specially when put into stressful situations. Yet, when someone like Kaworu shows up, someone that truly cares for him and that tries to understand and be there for him, it’s the only time Shinji feels safe, happy and even feels attraction to.

But that’s not all, the show also talks a lot about human relationships in general and how it affects us. It’s like you said, every character have their own issues, issues these that dictates who they are and how they act and talk all while still wanting to be loved and understood, but always fearing that connection, always fearing to let someone get too close. You haven’t mentioned the Rebuild movies, so I’ll assume you didn’t see it and I’ll avoid spoiling it, but I do think this side of Eva is more fleshed out in the movies, specially on the last one. To me it’s like the show is screaming at us to be more human, to form more meaningful connections, to be able to be vulnerable and to care for each other more. And while the original anime have a much more bleak and depressing tone, the movies are much more hopeful, not only one complements the other, but like its a response to the each other’s tone.

I would need to rewatch Evangelion to properly expand on anything I said, but this has been the feeling and messaging that have stuck with me ever since I watched it. Also, KawoShin is the cutest thing ever, lol.

  • You didn’t say he ever claimed to be a fascist, but speaking from an outside perspective he sounds just like that without the self-label. The reason I say that is because when I was still a lib that knew jack shit of politics, my only friend group had fascists in it, the kind that will call themselves fascists without hesitation, but that are all too much of a coward to do anything. Still they would say basically everything you described in here, and even worse stuff, antisemitism was a big one among them.

When I became increasingly aware of what being a fascist actually meant and started to see through them, instead of cutting it right away I naively tried my best to change them, not realizing that was impossible. I still hate that I didn’t leave that group sooner. Being an autistic, social anxious and introverted person, I clung to the group from fear of ever feeling lonely.

I’m only now realizing how much that group fucked me up mentally and it fucking sucks.

Nowadays, while I do feel lonely, most people around me are just libs that know little or close to nothing of politics but that are all well-meaning people. My attempts at politicizing and bringing class consciousness to them have met only some success, but I’m learning along the way and I’m sure one day I’ll be able to connect better with them on that front. Most of the time I can’t even bring myself to say what I want, probably because of the way I had to act around the old group, and when I actually do say what I want, it’s like my body wants to shut down, so it’s really hard. Luckily I have a good psychologist that is slowly helping me with this.

I do want to say tho, please prioritize your well-being. As much as I completely agree with you wanting to say how much you despise Tony to his face when you leave, weight in if it is safe to do so when the time comes.

  • And shit on the US all you want. It’s a terrible system controlled by corporations and the only people that believe who they vote for matters are dimwits that believe the bullshit pedaled to them by the media. I just think you should also understand that the reality of your ideal is no better. It’s just different branding of the same control by those at the top.

There have been some material pointed at you for reading already, so I just want to say that this is just common liberal thinking used to discredit any attempt of change by claiming everything is the same, “it’s all different power hungry elites at the top” stuff.

That’s a fundamentally wrong view of how societies work that not only completely ignores class struggle, also ignores all the advancement made in socialist societies. You are already on the right path and identified that the US is controlled by corporations, you just gotta go further and realize these corporations have owners, the extremely wealthy, the capitalist class. From there you can start to understand the interests a government serves under a capitalist society. That’s not to say there haven’t been any mistakes and wrongdoings in socialist societies, far from that, we are very aware of that and self-critique is core to communist thought.

With all that said, there isn’t much I can add here that will convince you or anything, this is something that takes willingness, time and research. What I can ask of you is to at least give it a fair thought. If you want good starting places in a video format in english, give Second Thought, Hakim and Yugopnik a watch from time to time.

  • What video games have you played recently?

Recently I played a little bit of Street Fighter 6 and finally got back to playing Breath of the Wild. It’s been a while since I last played it a month or so ago, so I’m still picking up pace, but I think I’m finally ready to continue playing it, I’m still very early but every second I remember playing it have been just an absolute joy, so I hope I continue it. I have also started playing Demon’s Souls for the first time (second really, but I didn’t go far the first time). Just beat the spider boss, it’s cool so far.

What are your favorite video game genres?

Souls games. Though also honorable mention to roguelikes too. I haven’t played a bunch of them actually, but The Binding of Isaac (this one I have played A LOT) and Hades are both amazing.

Are there any live-service games, such as Fallout 76, that you’re currently playing? Anything like Helldivers 2 or any other multiplayer games?

Not really, have been a while since I played a live service game. The last one I played would be League of Legends, but not only have I been playing it less and less for the last 3 or so years, I can’t even play it anymore since Riot started using Vanguard in League because I use Linux, so fuck them.

I’m feeling the itch to start playing Warframe again tho. I’ll probably just do some of the questlines that dropped since I stopped playing. I think I stop right before before The New War came out.

  • I’m not yet well read, but I’m currently reading more theory. I think Why Socialism? by Einstein shouldn’t just be a honorable mention, it is pretty good as a first text to read, specially if you want to send to someone that does not know much about communism since it is such a simple text. I would add The Three Sources and Three Component Parts of Marxism by Lenin after The Principles of Communism by Engels helps a lot, it’s a pretty short text that is very approachable.

  • Some context for anyone wondering: this was absolutely preventable. The governor of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, knew this happens at this time of the year but not only did he not do anything, the investment in preventing this was basically null. A flood also happened last year and he did nothing too.

One of the rivers rose up to 30 meters this time.

After the flood this time around he resorted to Twitter to beg president Lula for help, which is absolutely weird and pathetic to do. Not only that, but now he is asking for donations to the state to help people. This could have been prevented or at the very least mitigated if there was proper funding.

Hopefully there is a lot of groups there helping like MTST and people from all over the country are donating to different groups to help those in need right now.

My heart goes out to everyone suffering because of the flooding right now, the number of desperate people I’m seeing on Twitter sharing pictures of people missing after the flood is absolutely devastating.

Fuck Eduardo Leite and fuck capitalism.
