It’s sad how we’re conditioned to punch down and see the homeless people as the problem, rather than the systems that create homelessness.

Not entirely accurate. The collectivist movement in Spain did not involve installing a dictator, though it was vulnerable to being dissolved by outside forces, and this unfortunately did happen.

Also look up MST in Brazil, which afaik involves no dictator and is not an authoritarian movement.

There’s also the Sandinista (FSLN) party in Nicaragua, which still exists but would have probably been more successfully without the US trying to derail it every step of the way.

I mean now that I think of it – the Zapatistas in Mexico.

Not sure all these groups would use the term “communism,” but they all aim for a stateless, classless society, so I fail to see how that’s not a fundamentally communist goal.

I drink a lot of coffee, but I usually stop around 4 or 5pm because even though I normally sleep well, I’ve definitely experienced caffeine-induced insomnia.

So it affects the gray matter when it impacts your ability to sleep, did I read that right?

I agree. There are far too many people with the “if I’m not doing anything wrong, then what have I to hide?” mindset. I’ve seen people unironically say that all Tor users must be engaging in illegal activity, and I don’t think it occurs to them that in many parts of the world, freely accessing information is an illegal activity, and by adopting this mindset we’re empowering that type of state.

Most of them aren’t inbred, they’re just fairly well-to-do suburbanites or rich rural farm boys who have never experienced anything resembling hardship their entire life and therefore feel oppressed when they are asked to consider people other than themselves.

I’d like to see one of these charts that measures the amount of air in bags now vs. in the 80s or 90s. I could have sworn we had fairly full bags of chips back then, withouth them being reduced to rubble like so many people say.

I have two lemmy accounts, but I find myself using this one most often because beehaw blocks the really bad instances. I really wish they’d implement this feature because I’d like to block the dedicated porn ones as well.
