I was thinking the same! That’s pretty good all things considered!
Noticed some things haven’t been loading today. This provides the answer. Thank you for the communication!
Now that is some dedication! I did the human path before, but I might go elf this time around!
It came out awhile ago, so I’m sure it did age badly. Luckily there are mods that can soften the rougher edges for us to still get as much enjoyment as we can!
What a fantastic RPG game back in the day. I had an absolute blast playing that game, and now I kind of want to refresh myself on it thanks to your comment. I’m sure my way of viewing things has changed, and there are some choices in there that I will definitely do differently.
I’m the same. I play retro and indie titles on the Deck, and more modern and demanding games on the desktop.
I love this animation of Gabe! Thank you for sharing!
You can for sure! It’s just I wouldn’t go around recommending that to just any person because they then might get a little crazy with the freedom, brick their Steam deck install, and then try to say that the Deck is a POS.
Bad word of mouth is always a lot more damaging than spreading the good word that it’s a solid system.
In case anyone has to use Windows for certain things like I do,
HERE is a link that will provide ways to turn off Windows bullshit until you can either move over to Linux full time, or at least make your Windows partition slightly better.
There was actually a user on Lemmy that asked if the original photo for the massacre was AI. It hadn’t occurred to me that people who never heard of the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests and massacre would find the image and question if it was real or not.
A very sad sight, a very sad future.
HERE is a link stating what I said was “false”. However, I do recall watching a video where he said this way back in 2015. It was one of the reasons me and my buddies shat so hard on conservatives. This was before voice replication was as good as it is now. I just don’t see how I can remember watching it, hearing it, and subsequently shitting on anyone who wanted to vote for him, since it is supposedly false, but I guess you guys are right.
I believe I watched the video way before AI was ever introduced back in 2015-2016.
He got on camera, and stated that he would run as a republican because they are so dumb.
Yes, I agree. I found this over the weekend, and immediately backed out and scanned my computer. I just figured it had been compromised.
Polls are useless. Just go vote everyone!
HERE is an example of Democrats trying to do the right thing. Then comes a fucking idiot republican who can easily swipe that away, and either make it worse or leave it at a “neutral” state just as it was before.
Every time I see someone invoke a Democrat “doing nothing”, I just can’t help but feel you are absolutely fucking stupid. You have the internet right at your fingertips, and you can easily look something up, like I did above for Net Neutrality, and then easily find why it doesn’t exist any more or why it didn’t make it to law in the first place.
Spoiler alert: it’s almost like reDUMBlicans do everything in their power to prevent actual good laws from passing at every single instance they can. Who would’ve thought, right?
It’s a damn shame they won’t drop Chrome like they do most things. I can dream, I suppose.
The money should be classified documents, and the briefcase a bankers box of them.
I think you’re conflating natural occurring sugars to manmade sugars.
The natural sugars in fruits is okay. Adding 75-80% of the daily value of man made added sugars to ONE drink are what we are talking about.
The point I’m trying, and failing, to get across to you is that what future are you planning for? Look around you, and see the evil things that are happening right now, look at the issues I’ve stated, and really absorb them.
Let’s take a look at it this way, your way. So, you save up now for later. Okay, got it. Now, that entire time you have been saving up, shit has gotten even worse. Healthcare is worse, education is worse, the ecosystem is worse. It’s literally gotten to the point where people no longer live the way we do right now in this very moment. Mass deaths, mass destruction, and mass extinction of the very things we need to survive. What are you going to do with all of those savings you worked hard for? The world is slowly dying, right now in 2024, so imagine for just 10 minutes what that world is going to look like when you’re old enough to retire. What are you going to spend that money on? Water? Because right now in 2024 there are wars going on over clean drinking water.
So, with all of that being presented to you, what are you truly saving up for right now? Can things change? Sure! But then, look at how slowly that progress has been made, and then realize that every step forward, humanity allows itself to slip 5 steps back. As I mentioned earlier, water, air, and wildlife are being polluted at very high rates. And it isn’t slowing down, on the contrary, it seems to be happening faster and faster each year!
What do you find saving for right now, worth it in these events I’ve described to you? That’s a VERY real reality that seems to be on course to happen before you can even retire in the first place.
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment!
I haven’t gotten to the first or second game just yet, as I will be backtracking from the more refined, and as you said, more accessible games to the older titles as those will play more similar to the games I’ve found that used the toolkit for their creation! As you said, the website I linked to for the toolkit is the website hosted by the gracious person who took their time and love of the King’s Field series and used it to improve the engine!
I understand what you mean by the game being purposefully built for the slow gameplay, but that just isn’t how I want to spend my time as someone who doesn’t have a lot of free time. That means that if I can, I will increase the walking speed, the combat speed, or whatever else I need to do to make the game more enjoyable for me, such as being able to use the right analog stick to move the camera. I’m not in it for the slow pacedness of it, I am in it for the exploration, level design, and over feel the games provide. I think it is awesome that people choose to play these games as there were meant to be played, and as you said, would even recommend it for those that want that challenge! I know there are others like me though, and that means that if it can help them enjoy the game for themselves, why try to invalidate their enjoyment? We can both play the same game, and talk about the level design, the secrets, and the atmosphere, while still being able to enjoy the game in our own preferred way. That’s part of the fun of gaming after all! Some play on easy, others play on the hardest difficulty, and that’s just fine!
I am sorry to hear you didn’t like Lunacid that much, and while I agree the anime characters are pretty out there (and definitely not something I enjoyed seeing for the first time), you don’t see them often enough, or at least I didn’t through my entire 30 hour playthrough, where it became such an issue as to quit playing. Lunacid’s developer only mentioned it being inspired by King’s Field, and I think it took that inspiration very well. Maybe they changed the wording by the time it was fully released, but I never saw anything that said it was supposed to be a successor, only that it was heavily inspired. With that said, I understand what you were wanting, and I am sorry you did not get it. For a casual like myself, however, it was an absolute blast that made me go on to start playing King’s Field and Shadow Tower, mainly because there aren’t enough games like them!
As for the music, I am enjoying the music on King’s Field IV, I enjoyed the music on Lunacid, and I hope that when I get done with King’s Field IV, I’ll enjoy the music in Shadow Tower!
All in all, the limitations of the past are gone. I understand they were working with the technology of the time, and I love what they were able to accomplish. No loading screens on a PS2 game, let alone PS1, was such an amazing feat that I don’t think they get enough credit for! But, these limitations do not have to exist any longer, and I think people should be able to play any game, no matter if the developers are targeting a hardcore market or not, because I think limiting people from playing games is kind of sad. Video games are supposed to be an outlet, a hobby, something you can do to take your mind off of things or have a little escapism. If that means allowing them to play a game with more modern controls, as I have done for King’s Field IV, why should that bother anyone else? You can still play the game the way it was intended to, while I play it in a way that is more satisfying for me.
Again, thank you for the time and effort you put into your comment. I just want others to try these gems out too. :)
