Do the economics of nuclear make sense though? A quick search showed around $5k/kW capacity. That’s $5 billion per GW. Then there’s permit and build times on top of that.
Surely renewables + distributed storage is going to become key?

Is there already extensive precedence of undersea, long distance power distribution? I could imagine the losses would be outrageous at that distance.
Bluetooth and the 2.4 GHz ISM band is not electricity and is highly resilient to moderate noise over short distances. Problems are usually caused by hardware related issues.
I disagree. The remix makes me even more excited to hear some really sad and depressing news 😎
Your post history is outrageously dramatic. I would advise you to find a healthy hobby or two, preferably away from the internet.
Everyone rigs elections
Swedes maybe? Or is there a significant population of Czechs with 48 fingers on each hand?
It’s Mexico. $500 would override their legal obligations.
(Please don’t crucify me, I spent a lot of time there and absolutely love Mexico, it’s culture and it’s people ❤️… But damn if I didn’t spend a lot of money on bribes)
I would add that to use these stores it is HELPFUL (not mandatory) to understand what they are presenting.
F-Droid is a store for open source software, normally maintained (or not) by teams of passionate people or volunteers.
Aurora store is a mask over the Google play store, which can use an anonymous account to download files from the Google play store. The Aurora store may not be ideal of you are working with paid apps, but it is worth reading up before you blindly jump in here.
There is also the !privacy@lemmy.world or !privacy@lemmy.ml groups which can help if you want to de-google.
There seems to be a big push and pull going on with the EU and China at the moment. It feels like a middle ground has been decided that they accept the need to continue relying on China as a central component of its supply chain, but wrangling to have as many goods as possible manufactured inside the union.
It would be interesting to see the long term strategy here, if there is a comprehensive one.
It is much harder to hide an EFTPOS transaction from the ATO.
Hmmm while I get your point, I was only saying that I have seen cases where the comments of proposals were seen by the commission, discussed further and then actioned upon. The most recent example that comes to my mind was the delay of the cybersecurity requirements within the radio equipment directive.
I did not say that public action is adequately taken into account and I am not privvy to what the direct intentions or submissions (on a legislative level) are for Fridays for Future etc.
I would however give credit where due to the EU for trying to actually force companies selling here to act in an eco friendly manner (e.g USB-C amendments, charger requirements, eco design regulation, carbon based price schemes). More is needed, but it’s better than many other democracies
I get the joke, but we use this forum at work frequently, it has some sway during the consultation phase of discussion.
This is literally what taxation and subsidies are for.
The EU runs on 70% on-understandable process and regulation, everyone knows that! Good to see renewables pick up the rest.
Don’t listen to everyone else, they clearly don’t know your situation and that it is totally different to theirs. It’s a fantastic idea, and can only end in the situation you are hoping for. Please keep us updated on how it goes :)
In case that wasn’t motivating enough for you to try this amazing idea and report back to us (v. important) try these sentences:
It turns into quite dark humour when the article lists all the controversial acts she has committed, and then ends with the sentence:
In July 2024, she will become a member of the European Parliament
You are correct, re-loading the aurora store after shifting my vpn to the target country (and anonymous login) seems to change the aurora storefront too :)
Some apps are not available in my Google store due to geoblocking. Can aurora circumvent this? Or is it a front end of the “local” google play store?
The auto industry does not have a choice. They need batteries and will not get them from European suppliers, as they cannot deliver the same cost and quality AND they need the growing wealthy population there to keep their bottom line up.
Maybe 5-10 years down the line there will be enough forcing of Chinese battery suppliers to open factories in Europe to reverse this, but it is not going to happen soon. Maybe the tarrifs will speed this up, maybe not.
