I know this a very serious discussion, but I just wanted to say the phrase “yikes on bikes” is a good one.
Even the best laid plans go awry though. The point is even if they pragmatically design it to not kill indiscriminately, bugs and glitches happen. The technology isn’t all the way there yet and putting the ability to kill in the machine body of something that cannot understand context is a terrible idea. It’s not that the military wants to indiscriminately kill everything, it’s that they can’t possibly plan for problems in the code they haven’t encountered yet.
That’s the issue being discussed here. The tests will also show up if you smoked the week before on your day off. They don’t determine whether you were high on the clock or high on the weekends only. It penalizes people who smoke weed in their free time, as opposed to people who are actively causing a problem. Additionally, booze, meth, and heroin for example, are all out of your system much faster, so it doesn’t really do a good job of determining whether or not they’ll be blitzed on the job either, which is what the comment you replied to said. The point being made is that the drug test isn’t actually going to prevent anyone from being drunk on the job, but it will prevent you from hiring the guy who tried weed once in his free time.
I have Generalized anxiety disorder, It’s chronic and therapy doesn’t “cure” it. I will most likely struggle with it for the rest of my life. While this may be an anecdotal example I’m not aware of anything that “cures” anxiety disorders, therapy is mostly there to manage the symptoms effectively. Therapy helped me understand and somewhat mitigate the problem, but it’s not something I can ever be rid of, and that’s how it is for a lot of people who have an anxiety disorder.
From what I gather here in the comments, they use the sim cards to make the bots look like they’re actually posting from where the farm is located, since using a VPN would not be sufficient to hide their tracks.
My guess is they don’t want to be responsible for lawsuits if someone eats food they had to throw out and it causes a problem. (past expiration date, damage, ect.) Then again I am not a multi-billion dollar business executive so the reason could very well be “fuck the poors” for all I know.
