okay. a weird thing about English is when people say “I’ll have a water” similar to “a grilled cheese”. why don’t they say the full thing? “a cup of water” or “a grilled cheese sandwich” same thing with coffee etc.

saying “a” using an unit really bothers me

There’s a popular figure in a fringe topic who’s contributed to computer science enough to have earned respect (and rightfully so) who writes these fringe articles with so much fanfare and pretentiousness that the entire meaning is impossible to extract.

It just ends up sounding like a pretentious word salad.

I have this pet peeve of loud morning talkers. I don’t know how to explain it but I believe I don’t mind loud talkers in everyday life but I notice it right after waking up.

(Usage of the word talkers over speakers chosen to emphasize the human and not the electronic product)

  • I heavily disagree. C++ has a lot of problems but it’s flexibility is not one of them.

Imo the biggest problem with C++ is that there are a dozens ways of doing the same thing. The std lib is not general and fast enough for everyone. Therefore it’s not even “standard” .

I have seen many conferences of a proposed “cpp2” like syntax that breaks abi but imo it’s the best way forward.
