One of the few new Ameircan Fords you’ll sometimes see on the roads in Europe is the electric Mustang. It’s kinda hilariously out of place - next to smaller European cars it looks more like they attempted to design a monster truck than a sports car.
Just passing through.

Based on experience from American car manufacturing since the 1980s, even worse things will happen if we do buy their cars.
They’re not stupid, but they’re not particularly clever either. They’re just mediocre people pumped up by our adveseries to believe they can be something important and special.
Of course, Geert Wilders believes he’s brilliant. Just like Trump. They are never going to accept to themselves that their reason for being there is that their grandiose thoughts about themselves are only matched by their mediocracy, which is the exact set of traits that makes them so easy to take advantage of.
I agree it’s dangerous to dismiss them as stupid, but it would be a mistake to assume they’re particularly clever. They’re just dangerously mediocre.
The far right are a bunch of crooks and Russian agents. It’s not that they think we can progress as a society without spending money on research. It’s that they’re being paid to make sure western society collapses.
Wilders, Le Pen, Farage, whatever the knobheads in the AfD are called. They’ve all been found to receive funding from Russia. It’s not that they’re dumb enough to think this is a good idea, they’re just evil enough to profit from it.
He’ll be dead soon enough, until then he can easily leave Florida whenever necessary. He doesn’t give a shit.
I kind of like the idea of just using pentagon. ⛥
Close enough to the current logo in appearance, scales well, not used by other social media, satanic undertones.
And in white, for the dark mode folks:
⁂
But it’s hardly a fair comparison, especially because it seems I cannot upload SVG files to Mbin. I also didn’t make the lines thinner or any other adjustments that might be a good idea at this scale. Still, might be better than noting.
Testing a little side by side comparison

Holy shit - it seems like the Swedes are getting the upper hand! I have never heard of this monstrosity before. I am in awe.
In Norway, taco is consumed every single Friday by pretty much everyone. We’re crazy about it. I eat it all the time.
It’s almost impossible to find good Mexican food though. Rumour has it a good shop has popped up in Oslo recently.
Our “taco” is a bastardization of tex-mex, which arrived in Norway in the 1980s and has lived a life of its own since. It is delicious, but calling it Mexican would be more than generous.
Denmark as well. It seems they’re taking over Europe.
Is it worth trying?
So they touch upon it on their site:
The pentagram icon is the original symbol for the fediverse, created back in 2018 by Dr. Quadragon and Eukombos. It’s a great depiction of the decentralised nature of the fediverse, and has been serving the community well. However, its design is a little too complex to be used at small sizes, as you would in text or in a button. It’s also only available in image form, not as a typographical character.
I think they have a valid point. Currently on my website I use a Mastodon logo next to email and git and all that jazz. It’s not ideal, as it’s not so important that I’m on Mastodon specifically (and I might move to a self-hosted #Seppo instance in the future), but the existing fediverse icon would not work well at that scale.
It’s a huge branding effort to make it catch on though. And part of me likes the pentagram better.
Yeah, mine too.
Which I’m fine with. If the metaphor is that the Fediverse is a fucking blizzard of snowflakes organizing against corporate social media, I’m all in for it. If it serves to alienate right wing weirdos then all the better. In the end it’s all about freezing out the fascists.
Yeah, me too. I’m pretty sure this is the first time I have heard Trump’s voice this election cycle, as I was curious if it was an early sign that the Murdoch empire might start turning its back to him.
It is not, and I immediately regretted wasting time on it and giving it attention. At least I learned about the existence of Gutfeld, a right-wing attempt at a satire news talkshow (?), and now I want to puke.
Ugh, that’s not worth the watch. They’re still kissing his ass for dear life, they just had to change into different programming. The article made it sound as if Fox News for a brief moment recognized that Trump is huge senile weirdo. They did not.
I feel dirty for having watched that. What a sleezy bunch of corporate assholes.
Orban might fool Russians and those sympathetic with the Kremlin into believing that their leader has a glimmer of respect internationally. Other than that, I somehow struggle to believe this idiot managed to appeal even to the greatest suckers out there outside of Hungary. He just lacks the charisma to pull off this whole global populism stunt.
To a degree, but cars are not designed with disability in mind, and they are pushed on consumers to upgrade much more often than needed. Car lobbyist have successfully pushed towards building societies where everybody needs cars.
It’s not natural and it’s not necessary.
Of course new cars will still be needed and they should not be running on gasoline. But we need to consume less. Buying a new EV does not give you a low climate footprint.
Or cycling. Or public transportation. Or buying a used car for when you need it and driving as little as possible.
This idea that everyone should be buying a new car every decade or so is killing us.
Public infrastructure. Public transportation, but also bike infrastructure. Not just thrown in as an afterthought, but as the primary concern. As long as people living in cities still think it’s somewhat reasonable to own a car we’re failing.
Kudos for honourably backtracking and being reasonable. Mistakes are made, what matters is how they’re dealt with.
