I am an alpha user who didn’t realise I had to migrate my account until a couple of days after the cut off (I don’t really follow what’s going on in Minecraft these days) and am still peeved about it even though I haven’t played in years! Sorry I can’t help, but I can share in your frustrations!
For some people there are plenty of “reasons” not to - it doesn’t mean that those reasons are good, valid or even make any sense in a lot of cases.

There is absolutely an abundance of cheap crap options out there but almost everything has a much better equivalent available today.

I am curious to see if your opinion changes as you get through it, as the more I explore the more I find unexpectedly unique and interesting areas (caves, wells, ruins, manors, towers, etc) with unique and well designed enemies and bosses at every turn. It may help a lot that I have never played a souls game so it all feels very new to me!
I barely time to game, but have recently sunk 60 hrs into Elden Ring - with no intention of stopping! It is phenomenal!
Isn’t this just an expected correlation? Most people who take an ambulance to the E.R. will be seen quicker because most people who are in an ambulance have an emergency so they have a a reason to be seen quicker.

Offering an alternative and mostly unpopular view, there are lot of things that society should spend that may not always have a great financial return on investment but will contribute to the culture of society (sports, art, entertainment, history, etc).
That said I do think the Commonwealth Games is a massive cost sink during poor financial conditions and sports already gets a disproportionate amount of funding compared to the others so I don’t think this is necessarily a bad move!

Just a minor addition, if you are particularly bad with impulse spending, follow this approach but use separate accounts to help manage the budget - i.e. on payday put the amount of fixed expenses into an account and don’t touch it for anything other than these expenses (setting up direct debits for your expenses can make this run on auto pilot). Keep separate accounts for your variable expenses, your “fun money” and of course our savings as well (and only use your savings for a planned goal or emergency). It sounds overkill but it can really help you control where your funds go!

Yeah, I am sure it is! What is even more annoying is that I didn’t even receive an email from Microsoft that it was happening (not sure if that was just me). I am sure it is illegal (or at least a breach) but I can’t imagine how many likely costly hoops you would have to jump through to get them to honour the agreement.
