Reminds me of the biologist from Annihilation. Time to reread the trilogy I guess.

I lost my house in Helene, and I’m still struggling to adjust. My wife, kid, and I are cooped up in a hotel with nothing but clothes. My daughter has some of her stuffed animals, and friends have donated some toys and stuff for her, but otherwise we’re just kind of here in limbo. I don’t know how long it will be until we can get our home back together and start getting things back to normal.
The indie boomer shooter scene is exploding, actually
Not to be pedantic, but Ahab actually had an ivory leg, not wood.
They’re culinary vegetables. My wife likes to say it like this: intelligence is knowing that a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is knowing that it doesn’t go in a fruit salad.
I finally made a TikTok recently. On desktop, I couldn’t follow anybody, and after a week I couldn’t upload videos. Downloaded the mobile app, and my phone battery started losing 40-50% more battery per day, despite less than 5 minutes of usage per day in the tiktok app (uninstalled tiktok and all of a sudden my battery issues are gone).
Some time in the last week, I was suspended for having my twitch name visible in a tiktok. Or at least I assume so, since they never actually told me why I was suspended, or even that I was until I tried to login to upload a video.
What I’m getting at is, fuck tiktok.
I had this really strange game called Seventh Cross Evolution. It wasn’t really a good game, but I loved it.
You started out as a tiny amoeba, and ate food to gain evolution points. You’d then use those points to add colors to a grid, I think you had six colors. The arrangement of those colors in the grid would unlock new body parts, like tentacle legs, or human arms, or a shark head.
It was super weird and clunky, but I loved it as a kid. I would spend hours just making pictures and seeing what I’d get. Might have to revisit that one soon, could make a fun stream game.
Hell yeah, Pete & Bas. These two old men go hard as fuck. I’ve been introing stream with Stepped into the Building for like three months now lol.
Yep, that was it. Makes me feel a little bit better that every comment under it is calling it out though, thanks for the follow-up.
My favorite example of this so far, the top rated comment on a post about players making a one million science per hour factory in factorio:
Factorio is proprietary software, Mindustry is not
Lemmy is so negative, it even hates Factorio.
Lol, you really channeled Dave Barry for that last paragraph.
This post was brought to you by Han-Tyumi, the confused cyborg
Lol, TJ Miller told this story on his and Cash Levy’s podcast, Cashing In, right after it happened. Weird to see it in written form like that.
The movie is very loosely based on the first book. The screenwriter read it, had a dream about it, then wrote the movie based off the dream they had, intentionally never referencing the book while writing it. Which… Idk. Kinda fits the vibe of the story, but I’d love an authentic adaptation of the book, because it’s incredible.
The second book was a hard read for me, but it’s worth it to get to third, and honestly the third kind of retroactively makes the second one better. There’s supposed to be a 4th in the works I believe, but don’t quote me on that.
