If you read the article you’ll see that the author takes issue not with the inclusion itself, but the hamfisted way in which it is included. Pandering can be fine, but when it’s just checking boxes in a cringy, lazy way it’s not, and worse it becomes fodder for the gamergate type to rage about.

Oh les excès de vitesse sont très fréquents en ville aussi depuis la généralisation du 30km/h. Pas plus tard qu’hier à 200m de l’école de mes enfants, j’étais en vélo a 27km/h dans une zone 30. Le mec derrière moi me double pied au plancher, juste avant le dos d’âne-passage piéton, la voiture saute presque en passant dessus. Tout ça pour que ce connard se gare en même temps que moi devant l’école (sur la piste cyclable bien sûr), vu que ses filles et ma petite sont dans la même classe…
Je lui fais signe d’y aller molo (avec un regard peu amène il est vrai), le gars commence à s’énerver en sortant de sa bagnole, “vas-y note ma plaque, appelle les flics”. Mais j’en ai rien à foutre des flics abruti, je veux juste que tu tues pas nos gosses, pour gagner absolument rien.
Ça m’arrive tout le temps de me faire doubler alors que je suis quasiment à 30, les automobilistes ne peuvent manifestement pas supporter de rester derrière un vélo quelques centaines de mètres. Tout ça pour que je les redouble au prochain rond point… Et pourtant dans ma ville ça roule plus tranquille que la moyenne.

The point is also to minimize potential damages caused by a bug in the software. Just this year there have been multiple data-destroying bugs in publicly released software. If the app runs as a server it’s usually trivial to have it run as a dedicated user, with just enough permissions to do its job.
It’s just good practice, even though the risks might be low why risk it at all?
I watched a friend’s teenage son play a couple of times. They don’t seem to play battle royale or any kind of competitive mode anymore, they just chat and dick around in what seems to be seasonal levels. Reminds me of my WoW days where I logged in to do my dailies more for the social engagement than the actual gameplay.

Ça correspond exactement à mon expérience, on faisait passer des trucs tout à fait banals en CIR, genre tu pompes un algo un peu malin sur stackoverflow, hop tout le projet passe en CIR… Grâce aux consultants spécialisés qui packagent joliment les dossiers.

“School” starts at 3 in France. But it’s more like a kindergarten for 3 years, then you enter primary school at 6 where you learn reading and writing.

If you want a simpler solution than Matrix and don’t mind using a non-opensource app you could try twinme. You only need a username and a picture to create an account (could be anything, “Jane Doe” and a white square if you want). It has a couple unique features like multiple identities and click-to-call links, which you can share with people who don’t have the app so they can call you using only a web browser (e.g. on craigslist, lost pet flyers, …).
I work on this app as a full-stack dev, and for what it’s worth we only upload/store data that is strictly required for the app to work. We’re lobbying to open source it because we have nothing to hide and we know how important it is for the privacy/security minded folks, but it will take some convincing before management agrees to it…

Google Lens seems to do better, and the bottom line makes the whole thing even more dumb.
My favorite brand is Gildan, because they seem to have a monopoly on (metal) band shirts.
My second favorite is Volcom, because they work with local artists to make beautiful designs for their apparel.
Their own solution is actually better than a VPN for this use case. It’s an encrypted proxy which anyone can download and run, so it’s much harder to block.
Did you read the article? I found it pretty convincing, as an example “non-binary” is not a word I expect to be said in a fantasy setting. The author also mentions a fantasy book where it’s done much more naturally.
