  • I can think of a few that I would want others to read. None of them are “feel good” stories and all get you out of your comfort zone a bit.

“Know my Name” by Chanel Miller.

    • about how being assaulted by Brook Allen Turner behind a dumpster at Stanfort University changed and impacted her life.

“The White Rose: Munich 1942-1943” by Inge Scholl

    • about Hans and Sophie Scholl and their student resistance group ‘Die weisse Rose’, their arrest and execution by the Nazi regime.

“I Am a Girl From Africa” by Elizabeth Nyamayaro

    • Humanitarian and award-winning Activist, about her journey from a starving child in Zimbabwe, saved by a UN aid worker, to executive director for UN Women.

  • Deuter backpacks.

In many years of backpacking I never met someone who had trouble or regrets with a deuter bag.

I broke one of the steel rods in mine after years of heavy use and clearly by my own fault and way out of any manufacturer responsibility and they just replaced it for free. I just asked if there is any way to get spare parts and they were like “Here you go, have a good trip.”

Besides that, you have put in serious effort or serious stupidity (in my case) to break them at all. Especially normally easily breakable parts like clasps and zippers, are super sturdy.

  • I’m sure there are much more women out there who would appreciate this as you would think.

Strong, independent and confident women learn in this still very patriarchal world early on to mask an assertive character. The same toxic mechanisms that teach boys they have to be manly and masculine, a provider and protector, teach girls that these characteristics are not acceptable for women. If you are not soft, agreeable and demure, you are not feminine enough, a bossy, feisty, bitch.

I’m sure there are plenty of women out there who dream of being loved for their strength instead of having to hide it.

As a feminist, my dream is a world where everyone can just be, without being pressed into expectations their gender dictates.
