I haven’t use either for quite a while, tho, I always prefered KDE. Plasma has a lot of features that are also present on MacOS, tho, I never used Apple’s products, so my knowledge is limited to the videos of them.
If you’re used to Windows, try something like Linux Mint with Cinnamon. If MacOS was your system before, then maybe something with KDE would be best. Otherwise, just change the desktop environment on your current installation or configure Gnome to your liking.

You should just say “if you prefer”. Even on Windows, I’d pick GIMP over Photoshop. There are some tools that I’m used to in GIMP, that aren’t available in PS. Tho, working on Linux and being FOSS are huge pros for me.
