One of the nation’s strictest abortion laws will take effect in Iowa on Monday. Abortion care providers in Minnesota expect an increase in patients as another border state limits abortion access.
The Iowa law prohibits most abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, when fetal cardiac activity can be detected but before many know they are pregnant. The only exceptions to the ban are in cases of rape, incest or to save the life of the patient.
Previously, Iowa had permitted abortions until 22 weeks of pregnancy.
Because of Republicans, Blue states bordering Red states all have to prepare for the influx of patients. During Covid, those border cities were overwhelmed with patients.
Minnesota is good people. Went to a football game there and even though they lost, they were the nicest people I’ve ever come across. I fucking hate living in Iowa. They were congratulating my family on our win. Super friendly people, they’re legitimately nice when there’s a thing called “Iowa nice”.

For you it was the day you met the nicest population ever created next to Canadians. For us Minnesotans, it was
TuesdaySunday.Well I’m happy to say that I’m a big fan of the people of Minnesota. Y’all were the one state that voted against Reagan. You are good people. I wish I could live amongst you but there’s things keeping me in this shithole.
Cathy Blaeser, the co-executive director of Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life, said “Minnesotans are not looking to be the abortion mecca of the Midwest”
Well then maybe you should be fighting for nationwide abortion access, Cathy! When a public service is needed and it’s only being provided on the state or local level, people will migrate to access that public service. Doesn’t mean we should stop doing the right thing.
