I have come across a few add-ons that are only available through GitHub, for example. So I’m wondering, is there some system to keep them updated automatically, or do I have to manually redownload them every time?
A couple years ago there was a discussion about that idea on Right Click Select, and before that, cg cookie made (now outdated) script for update checking.
However, there are no current resources that I am aware of, which is a shame, because it would be really handy.
Ah, that’s a pity.
I’ll keep it on the radar of things I could look into and make, I guess a new script could work, it’ll be easier if I can also find the source for CG Cookie’s one first.
Thanks for the response btw! Here, i found it: https://github.com/CGCookie/blender-addon-updater though it looks like it only works with github which makes sense because I don’t think blendermarket has an API
Omg, a single file with 1744 lines 💀
The structure looks good from a quick skim at least and it seems to have support for other forges, I see BitBucket and GitLab on there too!I don’t think blendermarket has an API
Oh, I don’t know about it, is it a popular website for addons?
Blender Market is run by CGCookie, and along with Github & Gumroad, it’s one of the main places for buying/downloading addons.
