I’m also on Mastodon

Could someone eli5 to me old fart why it’s a good idea to restrict content to a certain time? Increase engagement, OK, but why so much effort to create content that disappears after two weeks?
It’s a character from German kid’s books.A witch called Bibi Blocksberg.
I might be a grumpy old keyboard enthusiast, but I am amazed by how keyboards just keep getting smaller and smaller.
Just out of interest, what is the benefit of having exactly as many keys as the alphabet?
EDIT: just looked at the keymaps and now I understand that you use key chords to replicate the missing keys. But I still don’t get the benefit of using chording instead of a clearly marked key, for example for /.
The inside rear wheel is braked harder, which pulls the car into the curve, helping it rotate better while braking.
I have no idea what an inertia valve could be, but I’m guessing it might be similar to McLarens second brake pedal they had in the MP4/12. Applying more brake pressure to the inner rear wheel allows easier rotation at low speeds.
My organization has blocked all browsers other than Edge and Chrome - and has also blocked all plugins except for UBlock. For security reasons, of course.
It’s just my sunglasses that are polarized, not the visor itself. Looking at glass or plexiglass with a filter, you see colors a little like this:
Also looks like riding a sofa weight-wise. Full with luggage and fuel, that bike must be heavy. Is the weight manageable at slow speeds?
I’m not an expert on missiles, but this image made me wonder
That looks like a spline with a groove for ball bearings. OK, maybe the explosion forcibly removed all ball bearings but one, but the real question is: shouldn’t that better be lubricated and not all rusted?
Had that model on my shortlist, before I saw the new Transalp in person.
Since 2021 Norris has outperformed his teammate. How come Norris doesn’t have the pace to beat Piastri if he’s currently 40 points ahead? In '21 he was 45 points ahead of Riccardo, and in '22 it was all of 85 points!
It might be luck, but who cares what it is, as long as he’s collecting points for the team!
Andrea Stella has warned Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri of their F1 futures at the team if they disobey team orders.
OMG, such drama. Constructors is a priority, understandable. But how about they give Speedy Norris some more support, because he actually has a chance to win the WDC?
The radio messages were really weird. Like mentioning all the Sunday meetings, and “I’ve done all I can, Lando”. Somehow I’ve got a feeling that there’s a power play in McLaren for driver #1 and that they’re not fully committed to Lando despite him being ahead in points.
Just like Red Bull lose their shit when not winning, McLaren have to get their shit together as long as they are ahead.
This race I was surprised by two things: how easily Max lost his chill and that this incident wasn’t punished.
I things keep going like this, the constructors might be in danger, but Max himself is comfortably ahead. But if he always removed around and damages morale like that the moment he’s not ahead, that will drag the team down.
And how TF could a dive bomb with contact like that go unpunished? At first I thought Max was out to get Lewis - it looked more like a soccer tackle than an attempt to navigate the corner. Is this really how we’re racing in the fastest series? Crazy.
“type notes like a medieval peasant.”
Huh. I thought medieval peasants were usually illiterate? Even less computer literate?
I was in this picture. One or two, maybe even three tall ones every evening, for years. And then I discovered untappd and drinking became gamified. A beer while watching TV can’t be alcoholism, right?
For a while I’d been noticing things like a lack of energy and interest, bad sleep, being irritable and impulsive, and bad memory. After a while I had to take magnesium and other supplements. I just considered it all side effects of aging.
Now I’ve switched to alcohol free beer since about 2 months and every day I’m surprised how much better the QOL already is. I feel fully rested, feel more confident at work, can remember stuff my kids talk about. For lack of a word, I feel more present.
And that experience completely changed my opinion about drinking alcohol regularly.
Ukrainians are dying daily and have been for 2 years…
You mean since 10 years, when Russia invaded Crimea.
Also not exactly cheap!
