I feel the same. The motherboard determines what else you can fit in, like the chassis of a car. It determines the maximum GPU, CPU, ram, etc you can use.
Actual OP here: Christmas is “put on a performance” fake. It’s also many pagan holidays mashed together by the Christians and co-opted when arguably the date of their messiah’s birth was in another time of year. It’s also getting longer and longer so companies can sell more and more crap that just ends up as waste.
Is Festivus made up? Sure. But it’s genuine in it’s disdain for what Christmas has become and is a sincere protest. In the words of Frank Costanza: “As I was raining blows down on him, I realized there had to be a better way”
Do you miss the part where it’s an open rebuttal of the over commercialization of Christmas? Instead of wasting a bunch of time putting up decorations bought simply to fill some billionaires pockets, I’ll put up a steel pole.
Also you’re missing the Airing of Grievances as well. Thats integral. The family fight is gonna happen regardless, so might as well get some therapy out of it and bury the axes while you’re at it. The Feats of Strength will get rid of whatever animosity is left too.
Oh, I’m sorry, did you grow up in a normal, functional family?
Winter? Nah. Love it for many of the reasons already being stated.
But the fake as fuck holiday season that comes with it? Done with it. I’m celebrating Festivus unironically this year. Done with the rest of that shit.
This just in, most people opposed to theft/murder/crime in general haven’t been direct victims but want to see a better society. These numbers go to show that numbers pulled out of thin air are meaningless.
Make your point without being anti- another group. Stop the US vs THEM bs.
I dunno, my 65 inch TV and 5.1 surround sound system, along with adjustable lighting, begs to differ. Just cus your system sucks doesn’t mean everyone’s does.
Also “more similar to physical media”. So here we have exhibit A: the guy who thinks license rentals are the same as ownership. I’m just gonna be honest, if you misunderstood that, I’m not expecting you to understand anything else in this discussion.
Way to miss the point. Name a place where a family of 4 can get 4 tickets to a current movie for $25. It’s not happening. They’re saying that for them, $25 is a fucking steal compared to the theatre experience just on price alone, BEFORE you even consider snacks and other people.
So you’re mad that check notes pirates will have it in good quality before you rent it? Then… Be a pirate? Or don’t worry about the pirates and just worry about yourself? I’m… not seeing your particular issue. Pirates will get it regardless so how does that factor in at all?
All of the tasks are pointless. The boulder rolls down, the hotel for sure can accommodate him, the ship will be reborn. Which is most pointless seems to be the paradox now. “Is he happy?” implies that pointless tasks please him.

Gondor, stop burninating the countryside!
Ok fine, I’ll give you a cookie too…
Just doing my civic duty
I gave 'em a cookie. Now they’re happy :D
Way to miss the point. It’s about some people acting like these are choices rather than “this is the best I can do”. Would you really prefer the inconsistency of the gig economy if well paying consistent jobs were available? Would you eat rice and beans for every meal if you actually had the choice? Wouldn’t you prefer just a few more square feet in your tiny home(maybe in the kitchen or bathroom)?
Acting like people are making all of these choices out of genuine desire and not a good helping of “this is what I have to do to survive” is what the meme is criticizing and what you on your high horse up there failed to see.
OP is inadvertantly providing another example: the phrase “conspiracy theory”. It was coined by the US government as a way to discredit ideas - to make people look like crackpots. Lots of negative propaganda was created around that phrase.
Fast forward to today and “conspiracy theory”, though admittedly still tainted in various ways, has made a resurgence. Things that would have gotten you laughed out of the room are now proven fact(like Iran-Contra, for a simple and fairly uncontroversial example).
A) literally means figuratively. Go grab a dictionary and check yourself.
B) Was I complaining about Reddit? If anything, I’m complaining about the fact that Lemmy is much smaller and often delayed in getting me news about current events
All the downvotes but literally every post here I see is on Reddit hours or days beforehand.
Don’t listen to this person. Unleashed dogs are the responsibility of the owner in most states. Not only are you not legally responsible for the injuries to the dog, the owner is responsible for any damage to your car.
And a huge amount of items are “3D print this”. This was disappointing. It’s basically just a curated printables list. The stuff listed looked really well designed, but I was hoping for more of a “here’s simple machines and tools to build when you don’t have access to better equipment”
