Be so serious, Mariah Carey’s is far from the worst Christmas song in retail.

It basically sidesteps any conversation about what you mean. If you said to the line or to your fellow waiters “no cherries” that wouldn’t make any sense. Like, in what context would they guess you meant that? You’d at the very least have to say “we have no more cherries”, which is much longer than saying “86 cherries”.
If you mean in the context of the OP, though, then yes I completely agree, the customer was being extra and not actually shortening what they were trying to say.
Working in fast food is pretty different from full restaurants. I worked fast food first, never heard the term until I started waiting tables a few years later. In fast food, there’s not as much of a chain of communication that requires pass phrases to get info across quickly. Just one kid with an order terminal and another kid assembling the order as it was entered.
All of that aside, if I hear someone use that term IRL, it does tend to sound pretentious because you’re basically using jargon outside of its typical area of use and expecting everyone to know wtf you’re talking about. It’s almost like you want someone to ask, so you can be like “you don’t kNoW???”
Probably people don’t mean to come off that way, but that is the vibe I catch most of the time.
In our area, they’ll use suicidal ideation to get a hospital bed a lot
Idk, I think Aragorn is a great example. As is Samwise.
The hell is a buttermilk bar? I am intrigued 👀
Fucking thank you. Men’s libbers (and there’s a loooooot of them on lemmy, as you can see in your downvotes) like to trot out the “men don’t report because of stigma!” line, but it’s like, my guy, women do too?? For every woman brave enough to report, there’s anywhere from 5-10 that don’t report at all due to fear/stigma.
Of course rape happens to men (mostly by other men) too. But, couple things:
How exactly did Dualit shit the bed? Aren’t they still repairable and made in the UK? Sorry, I’ve been doing a lot of toaster research and have one in my cart literally right now, so it would be awesome to know if I missed something before paying $350 lol
Not everything Le Creuset. They seem to be very similar to other kitchen brands (kitchenaid, Cuisinart, etc) in that they make a few excellent products, but the rest of their line is overpriced stuff that isn’t as good as other brands you could buy. Their Dutch ovens are good, for example, but not their French press so much.
That’s as tough as beanie boy can make himself look, and he still looks like the pathetic weirdo who somehow always shows up whenever your friends pull out their bong. He looks like the guy who deals weed because that’s the only way he can feel like he has friends. Sad-looking poser punk.
Bro I hardly see drivers look up from their phones while making turns these days, much less while stopping for pedestrians. It’s way more common to see fellow drivers looking down instead of up, it seems like. Sometimes I like to honk to get their attention.
It was really depressing when I found that Pendleton, literally THE wool store, is mostly dealing in poly-wool blends now. That completely defeats the purpose of the wool?? A breathable fabric that stays warm when wet for winter, but can also keep you cool in summer? Yeah, let’s just shove some plastic in there. Fucking capitalist brain-rot of these companies, man.
EDIT: I wanted to chime back in and correct myself. Good news everyone, Pendleton’s clothes seem to be mostly all either wool or cotton again! I don’t know what was going on when I looked like a year ago, but they seem to have fixed their fuckery. I’ve never been happier to be wrong.
Unfortunately there is a real need for these. There’s a reason it’s like the only bassinet that has an FDA approval rating, as well as why many NICU wards have them for preemies. We literally would not have been able to sleep without it when we had our son, he wouldn’t sleep without being either on us or in the SNOO.
We were luckily able to rent one for less total cost than buying one, but for many families I’d imagine the second hand market is the only way they’d be able to afford one. That to me is what makes this introduction of a subscription service even more awful.
That baby is gonna be dope as hell
It is possible to replace them, with a little research. Or just taking them to a phone repair shop if you’re too anxious for that
This is great info, thank you so much! That definitely gives me more things to consider
Damn, that really sucks, I’m sorry :(
Very interesting, thanks!
I do agree that the lack of a headphone jack absolutely kills me. It’s a reason I haven’t pulled the trigger either way on a new phone yet. On the one hand, I want a secure degoogled phone that maintains a lot of functionality with GOS. On the other, I want a modern phone with a headphone jack a la Sony. I go back and forth constantly.
There are some truly terrible remixes on repeat in TJ Maxx/Marshall’s/Homegoods as well.
