Back in high school I had to read a book based on this experiment, I found it pretty interesting. But only recently after becoming a socialist I realized how shallow it really is. The Wave leans heavily into the trope that Hitler was “a charismatic leader” who managed to bamboozle an entire population into committing genocide through sheer populism, while ignoring the material interests that brought him to power and the intense dehumanizing propaganda required to convince people to be complicit in their atrocities.

Has anyone here read the book “Capitalist Realism”? My memory’s a bit dull but I remember in one chapter Fisher was writing about the connection between advanced capitalist society and mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. He was writing about how bourgeois society seeks to “depoliticize” mental health, and dismiss things like depression as individual problems that do not stem from how society is organized.

Is there a reason you didn’t add Blackshirts & Reds to this list? Personally I think that book is absolutely essential for beginners, especially because it specifically attempts to dismantle the bourgeois mentality that capitalist society instills in people. It’s also not too long of a read for a book.

Some time recently I sorted by all and came across a post (on lemmy.world I think) shaming US Republicans for voting against sending weapons to Ukraine. I’m not a conservative either, but it really astounds me when liberals like that advocate for war and destruction then get on their ivory tower and think they are fighting for freedom and democracy.

The best way that worked for me is to create a custom .esp plugin through sseedit and place all the personalized patches there. SSEEdit should have the option to create an empty plugin, I believe.

If you want to edit Serana’s record, add said record to the plugin and make all the necessary changes, then save the plugin and place it in the bottom of the load order. If you use LOOT to automatically sort your load order, add a custom rule to your plugin so it will be in the bottom.

This is the general go-to procedure when manually patching mod conflicts. As for your specific case, there might be a parameter in Serana’s record which determines what model/textures she appears as. If that’s the case then you should be able to change it to what you need.

TL;DR is: BE is is essentially pushing the same old narrative about Xinjiang, only slightly downgrading it to a “cultural” genocide in order to appear like a centrist with a “balanced” or “nuanced” view of the subject. He is using the same old state department tactics such as FUD, and doesn’t dedicate nearly enough time to the actual context of China’s actions, such as the history of adventurist attacks in the region which prompted the deradicalization measures.

I also love the Metro games, even with the ideology. Are the books also this much anti-communist, or is it just the game adaptation?
